    Steve McManaman

My mom (who knows absolutely zero about football) met him & Ruud Gullit at Johannesburg airport the other day & had coffee with them. Anyway the interesting bit is when she asked McManaman who he played for he just said Liverpool - didn't even mention Real. Interesting...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

That's because he is a legend. Some have issue with him but I'm not one of them, he was my favourite player for years and is just about the only articulate footballer to ever grace the planet.

      Interesting you say

Anway, top player. I understand why he left, the last season or so we seemed to have no other tactic than give the ball to him and let him run it up to the box. Our team, or Real Madrid, at the time, was a no brainer really.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Spot on. Fantastic player in his day, he is why I'm a Liverpool fan and not a Citeh fan.

He was and still is one of my favorite players of all times. It is too bad that he is not more involved with reds.

Quality player him a God together were amazing! How we could do with a young Macca and god in our team today. Just shows how much in the **** we are when the last great player to come out of academy was Stevie over 10 years ago. I seem to remeber we use to promote the younger players on a regular basis and as a result ended up with some gems like robbie and macca.

I hope the new manager does give youth a chance.

First watched him in the reserves and even then he just ghosted past defenders. Even though he won caps, FA Cups, Spansh titles, CL etc I still feel he underachieved as a player. He could have been a world great. One of his downfalls was that he was so good in so many positions he got messed about by successive managers who used his versatility to their own advantage. England's stand out player in Euro 96 and the LFC player of the nineties. A local too. A club needs that.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

For a player at least. In recent years anyway. As far as I can remember.
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
