Most free transfers are gonna command higher wages than you'd normally expect if you were paying a fee for them. It's to be expected.Originally posted by magicalbarnes View PostTheres a big difference between £130k and peanuts. He would have to want less than half of that for us to consider buying him.

Joe Cole last night launched a thinly veiled attack on Carlo Ancelotti after insisting being dumped by Chelsea will not wreck his World Cup.
Cole admitted last season was "very difficult" after Chelsea boss Ancelotti froze him out while the club yesterday confirmed that he will be released.
England midfielder Cole said he needs a manager who will show "faith" in him after Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp publicly declared his interest in signing him.
Cole said: "This season was very difficult for me. I just want to put it behind me now. What I need in my career is a manager who will give me that feeling that you are going to play here. That faith.
"Under Jose Mourinho if you look at it, I played more than Robben, Duff, Wrighty, Malouda, Mutu, Gudjohnsen. Jose had a lot of faith in me. I played in all the big games.
"Even in the first year I played more than them. I know because I have looked at the stats. It just happened that it was spread out.
"I am sure that will all sort itself out. I don't want to talk too much about Chelsea. That is another story. I just want to concentrate on the World Cup. I want to my best for England over the next few weeks."
Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Juventus and Manchester City are all keen on Joe Cole who will become a free agent after his contract expires on June 30.
The former Chelsea star insists he will decide after the World Cup but Spurs boss Redknapp, on Talksport, said yesterday: "He's told us that he hasn't decided anything yet and he hasn't done anything definite.
"So there's a chance. I suppose it all depends on the financial side of it and everything else, but according to his agent, hes not made up his mind yet.
"I think that Daniel [Levy], the chairman, has spoken to Joe's agent and he said that Joe didn't want to discuss any moves until after the World Cup. Then he's going to look at his options."
But Arsenal are NOT interested in signing Cole. Mirror Sport understands Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes he already has enough midfielders of the same style.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood confirmed: "I had a long conversation with (chief executive) Ivan Gazidis, who had been with Arsene (Wenger) and his name never came up at all."
Chelsea confirmed yesterday that Cole and Michael Ballack will be released along with Juliano Belletti. Portugese midfielder Deco is also set to join Fluminese. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I'd have Cole though.

I'm guessing Jose might take him to Real.
I hate Ballack, I hope he doesn't come near our club. Fortunately the wages he's likely to want will prevent he coming here. I would take Cole but I' wonder if we could afford his wages. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I've just noticed that there are two threads about this subject.

Must have been the OP.
