Our boys at the World Cup

I thought it would be good idea to have a thread about our players at the world cup, goals, performances, etc etc.

So far we have goals from Gerrard, Kuyt and Jovanovic. Johnson had a good game against the USA, haven't watched a lot of the tournament so far so please feel free to add.

I think we must be the top scoring club so far? Obviously Higuain got a hat-trick but that aside...?

Our lads do seem to be performing well so far. I think its probably a breath of fresh air for them getting away from all the drama at the club.

Obviously that doesn't include Jovanovic, who's looked really, really good against Ze Germans.

He looked good for the goal and his one other effort, he was barely involved otherwise.

He had so few touches to really properly rate his game against Germany.

Having said that, he did exibit his skills with the goal and the post in only 2 shots he had. Not bad production at all.

Just thinking out loud here...I wonder how this will make Stevie feel? He would've thought of this WC as a chance to put last season's misery behind him, and thus far it's just more misery for him. Is it more likely to make him look for pastures new next season? Or stick with us? Or does it have no effect at all?

I think this has been my big worry since the end of the season. He is desperate to win something, a good WC may have appeased him, but with the dross we have been playing so far we don't have a chance and he may just start thinking I need to go somewhere to win something....if we can get good money I would probably take it.

Given all the crap surrounding the club and Englands performance, he'll be in even more of a sullk next season. Cash in to a foreign club is what I feel at the moment.

                Been smoking?

I don't think it will make all that much difference, it might just force him to make the decision a few weeks earlier.

Hopefully after thinking England were in with a change, if they are poor and have an early exit, hopefully it will make him realise that the grass isn't always greener
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm thinking the same. Like you say I reckon a good tournament might have cheered him up and given him a more positive outlook on LFC.

As things stand he's still miserable and I think he may look to go. All speculation of course.
