    I would not be surprised if it ends up with quarterfinals of

    Uruguay-Ghana;
    Argentina-Germany (sorry England, but Gerrard on the left is a no brainer);
    Nederlands-Brasil;
    Paraguay-Portugal (but hopefully Spain will be here);

    and purely South American semifinals of

    Uruguay-Brasil -
    Argentina-Paraguay... (but hopefully Spain will be here)
    - - - - -

    You will never walk alone

      brazil v argentina final looks a dead cert right now.

      that would be the ideal final and hopefully a good game. prob only spain stand in the way of it happening.

          Such a soft goal to concede. Still looks like there might be another goal in this one.

                    USA Lineup: Howard; Cherundolo, DeMerit, Bocanegra, Bornstein; Donovan, Bradley, Clark, Dempsey; Altidore, Findley

                    Findley AND Bornstein? ughhhhhh! Whyyyyy?!?!?! How are we even in the last 16 with this load of ****?

                      what would you rather for findley, beasley down the left on dempsey playing link up?

                      i think dropping onyewu will be costly.

                        Holden on the left and Dempsey in the hole... or even Feilhaber again, who has been fine, with Altidore knocking balls down for Donovan/Dempsey/Bradley to attack. Findley can't play at this level; he was awful in the Slovenia match.

                        And why was Edu benched? He allows Bradley to get forward far more than Rico Clark. This just doesn't bode well for me.

                        Onyewu has looked a mess too, but I just think putting Bornstein in to cover Ghana's speed down the wings won't matter much since he always makes a huge mistake by being too aggressive too high up the pitch and getting torched on the touch line. How many times does he move up to try and double team the ball only to watch the opposing midfielder pass it off to someone screaming down the right wing? Algeria almost had us on that, but it was called offside. I hope I am wrong, but Asamoah and Ayew are going to kill him.

                        That said, I said it in the last game too, so who knows. Still, a nation of 300 million and we can't produce one serviceable left back? Just terrible. I work near Bradenton, FL in the winter and I know some guys down at the IMG Academy very well-- I need to get down there and start cracking heads, I guess... *ha*

                          feilhaber has been good. bocanegra is a serviceable left back (although he was pants against england). didn't he come from img?

                            No, I think Bocanegra was pre-IMG... I think he played college at UCLA. But he'll be playing against his club mate Gyan in the middle; I hope he studied him in training...
