Totally agree about Adam Johnson. Form player of the league, as I said in the england thread before the tournament there is no way guys like SWP deserved to go ahead of him. Johnson on the left and Lennon on the right would have been ideal.

I used to think highly of Capello but not anymore. Also......

    -Playing Gerrard on the left
-Going into the tournament without knowing his first choice keeper
-Being unsure about central defence and making Rio captain even though he had serious injury problems
    - Heskey.
-Lampard can never control a central midfield as neither him or Barry can do an adequate defensive job
    -Upson?

That's what 6m a year gets you. 12m to get rid of now.
England's easy path in the qualifiers only hid these basic problems, and the media constantly blowing smoke up Capello's arse didn't help.

Capello has shown himself to be completely lacking in all the areas mentioned above.
Disciplinarian, takes no ****, would break up the old boys routine, would only pick players playing regular first team football, would only pick players on form, wouldn't be listening to the media around team selection promises etc etc.......................English national team football has bigger problems than Capello's poor management, but his performance in this World Cup should cost him his job.

Having said all that, he's looking after a bunch of cunts, but he is paid the big money to get them cunts in line. Looking back in the cold light of day, he should have kicked Terry out after his bull**** last week..................would have more respect for him in that regard anyway. And England's defence would've been improved.

Disecting the result. On the Aussie forum this would have been 6 pages of ranting that it's a fix and the ref robbed us, that's whinging

I think that perhaps the FA interfere with squad selection, why else would Capello go back on his original ideals?! Odd

Sorry, next WC we'll try whinging and make excuses rather than looking at the actual causes of our loss, will that make you feel more at home?

the ref was the cause!! haha but seriously to put it into perspective for all of you anybody in the English team, probably in the squad would walk into the Aussie squad and half the forum is whinging about how ****/not good enough they are.

Well, they clearly didn't play good enough otherwise we wouldn't have been hammered the way we were.

If you're not going to make excuses and blame the ref, the pitch, the ball, the draw, luck, injuries etc etc then who is to blame? The players and manager.

I know you're disappointed that despite the shocking call we're not all whining and blaming it so you can't give some back but I think you're stretching reality a wee bit far to try and fit revenge in.

Gareth Barry doesn't seem to be getting enough stick- he was to blame for both of the last 2 goals - his "race" with Ozil was hilarious - he ended up 10 metres behind him. Thank god we didn't manage to buy him.

And I'm still trying to come to terms with Heskey being brought on...

My team would have been 3-5-2. Gives us cover in midfield, allows Johnson and Cole to bomb forward and plays both Lampard and Gerrard in attacking roles without having to worry about defending.

                          Hart

                          Carra Terry Dawson

                          Johnson Cole

                          Barry Carrick

                          Gerrard Lampard

Barry was so, so poor. He provided no protection whatsoever for the back four.

Tactics again though, ain't it. Barry's never been fast, neither is Lampard. Add into the mix John Terry who kept on forgetting which side of central defence he was supposed to be on and a comically bad Upson (also a slow coach) then you've got the central core of the team with zero pace.

That coupled with England's determination to push the agenda even though they only needed the one goal to draw level and there was still 30 minutes left to play, ensured that the England team over extended, Germany broke at pace, and we didn't have enough speed or determination to get back. Twice!

Amazingly though, there's people on here crying out for LFC to go 4-4-2, but yet again yesterday showed that in the modern game it usually comes up short against teams playing 4-2-3-1 variations.
