So you're (not you personally, but anyway expressing the same view - i wont say "we're" because i'm not in that category) acknowledging that you're being two faced and hypocritical if you slate Suarez but didnt Henchoz?

As someone said - it's within the rules of the game, if you handball, you pay the price. It's not as if he tried to bribe the ref or fix the game. He decided that paying the price of a red and a penalty was worth doing, so he did it.

Is someone who tugs the shirt of a 'through on goal' striker to bring him down also a cheat?

As i said, i wouldnt 'applaud' him for it. I'd understand why Uruaguay fans and his team mates might, however.

Indeed, but I was blah'ing a David James who said he did applaud it.

Yes, such a position is hypocritical. And yes they are. Obviously there are varying degrees.

This. Listening to 5live was funny, all the reactionary idiots moaning about the 'cheating'. Total Bollocks.

Giving a goal in these circumstances couldn't happen without video replays. There are too many possible variables to give a goal. Someone HAS to put the ball in the net.

Well I think it was cheating but agree that you can start giving goals unless the ball is put in the net.

I don't understand peoples outrage on it. Yeah he cleared it off the line with his hands......can people honestly say they would not do the same thing in the same situation?? Its a natural reaction. He paid the price, red card + penalty, will miss the next game, gave Ghana a chance to win. Gyan shat himself under pressure though. No one to blame other than himself (and Mensah for one of the worst penalty attempts ive ever seen). Sad to see them go out like that (although they didn't really deserve to be there in the first place)

I loved Suarez's reaction when he was walking off down the tunnel. Head in hands, thinking he had just gifted them a win.....MISS.....cue him going absolutely mental

Football has been forever dominated by Europeans and South Americans. But its called the World Cup remember so the idea is that everyone gets represented. Naturally africans are going to be immensely proud to finally have some representation.

I think its ****ing pathetic that so many of you can't understand why africans are taking pride in ghana's progress and that many of you actually feel they don't deserve to be there and sayings its a waste of a quarter final. Absolutely pathetic and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Aside from the first week I think this world cup has been superb, especially on a cultural level. But then thats probably because im not english

Culturally it has been fantastic and a great event, but the football has been undeniably poor on the whole. It's a shame for the people of SA - most of the big players haven't turned up and there's been a painful lack of goals and quality. Barely any memorable games. In the fullness of time it'll be remembered as a very poor tournament.

Almost as bad as USA 94.

Yeah, i was thinking this the other day. I always remember certain iconic games or goals from previous tournaments and i was thinking about this world cup, wondering which games/goals i'd remember in future - and i struggled.

Jill: Well I just thought I’d pour chocolate mousse over you.
Alan: You’ve got it on the bedsheets, you’ve got it on my dressing gown, you’ve got it on the valance…
                              Jill: The what?
Alan: The skirt thing round the side of the bed.
Jill: I thought it’d be erotic.
Alan: Oh, Jill. Mousse from a bowl is very nice, but to put it on a person is demented!
Jill: Come on, it’s only a bit of chocolate!
Alan: It may be chocolate to you, Jill, but to an unwitting member of staff this could look like some sort of… dirty protest against the standard of service in the hotel, which I happen to think is very good. I mean, it’s not five-star but it’s certainly competitive.
