I have to say i think he did a decent job and the Dutch are well out of order with what they are saying. They were lucky to only have one player sent off.
I though he was ****. Bottled decisions in the first half. Understand why he didn't want to send anyone off in the final, but they were too bad. Got loads of FK decisions wrong, gave FKs for nothing and didn't give others that were blatant. Robben should have walked for kicking the ball away. The tug back on Robben that lead to his first booking. The decision when the ball hit two defenders on te way out. Seemed be lenient on bad fouls and hard line on decent, which is the wrong way round for me. So many wrong calls.

That said, his shot decisions benefitted both teams at different times.

He could've easily sent off a couple of Dutch players in the first half, they shouldn't ****ing complain the bunch of ****houses.

Operation i know what you mean, but if he had been hardline it might have ruined the final, even if it was **** as it was.
He should have taken both captains aside and spoken to them to tell their players to calm down before they ruin the game and he has to end up dishing out the red cards.

Just read that Spain is the WC-winners that have scored the least amount of goals ever.

Ironic considering many (myself including) that they play some of the most attractive football in the tournament...

I guess this is because so many teams have been afraid of them, and in most games the opposition have set themselves up primarily to stop Spain from playing.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That was especially clear last night when a normally attacking dutch team did nothing but trying to break down spain - and could/should have received 3 red cards in the process!

Even an otherwise offensive germany crawled back to defence when facing spain...

I think Spain's play partially forces a deep line on teams as they build up very slowly and had very little width and when they did get wide, they lacked players in the box. But because they are so adept at keeping the ball, the opposition have very little opportunity to get forward in numbers.

To be fair the Germans were never an outright attacking outfit - they were largely a fast counter attacking unit (much as numerous United sides have been in the last decade). Spain keep the ball so well it is hard to counter unless they become spread out - with Pedro and Villa as the furthest forward players the game was very compact which made it even harder for them.

I still think Spain were a touch lucky given how few clear chances they create - especially against Paraguay.

They certainly were. How could you forget their blitzkrieg tactics in Poland, the invasion of France, Operation Barbarossa, etc?

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Just read this thread and slightly surprised to see most calling it a **** final. My perspective was obviously massively swayed by being in Spain and in amongst the passionate locals. Until the goal I'd found it an enjoyable nil-nil.

                      Anyway, Viva España!

Blimey, a few days in sunny Spain and he comes back speaking the lingo like a native. That's impressive.
