Reece told me about this place it and that he rarely discusses football, so I thought I'd give it a go.... Something to do at work.

Also, my family is split, the more dominant (Dad's side) support Spurs and the Mum's side support Liverpool. So I've always had a soft spot for you fillthly lot, especially in the champs league (up until now ). My nan actually had YNWA played at her funeral, so I can't really hate you's even if I wanted to!

Good enough for me! This is a pretty assesable forum. Although the football forum on match days can get heated.....

Yeh, I had to bite my lip yesterday in the Spurs V Young boys thread. I didn't want to, but I'm not one of these internet people that likes arguments for the sake of it, so just left.

I think I'll stick to the un-football-related subjects for now. Or at least the ones that aren't bashing Tottenham.

I don't think it's anything against Spurs as such, we're just not that supportive of other English sides in Europe. I think we'd have laughed as much whoever it had been.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Am I alone in the fact I like to see all, well, most english teams do well in Europe? Apart from Spurs and pool, I don't actively support other teams in europe, but at the same time I'm not taking enjoyment from when they lose, or willing them to lose (apart from Chelsea, ****s).

I like seeing all English teams do well in Europe apart from Chelsea and Man Utd.

Fulham for example, i watched most of there games last year in the europa league. I was dreading getting them in the final as we would have been the most hated team in all the land if we beat them.

Luckly we saved Fulham the beating and gracefully let another team do it

I think you are in a minority, I think very few fans support other English teams in europe, unless they have them as a second team or whatever. I think alot of it is the over the top media hype that alot of people get in this country that gets my back up. Also perhaps because the clubs I see as rivals to us, I find funny when they lose, (because I wanted Fulham to do well last year)

Or maybe it's just because I'm just becoming a grumpy sod.

I am completely and utterly bitter, bitter as **** when it comes to watching other English teams in Europe - even more so when we're sitting on the sidelines, not involved.

In fact, apart from watching us obviously (and whoever's playing the Mancs), I think supporting 'the other team' in European games involving English teams is as animated as I get watching football.

For example, when the Mancs get beaten in Europe and/or go out, I'm guaranteed to be on my feet and going berserk.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I enjoy watching underdogs win. I enjoy English - no, British - teams f*cking up. In fact, I pretty much enjoy watching any big name team lose to inferior opposition unless the latter are cheating or incredibly boring.

I always like seeing Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Celtic, Rangers and Real Madrid lose. Preferably in humiliating or otherwise embarrassing circumstances. Of those, I don't mind Arsenal that much but I'd still rather they lost all their matches. I often want Barcelona to lose, just because it gets boring when they win all their domestic matches 4-0 and I get tired of hearing commentators and pundits going on about how f*cking wonderful they are.

As for Spurs against Young Boys, I want anyone who's a threat to Liverpool to lose. Right now *sigh* that means Spurs, Villa, Everton, Man City and (less relevantly) Arse, Chelsea and Man United.

Into every life a little Schadenfreude must fall.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Second team ?? I don't think it is possible to have a second team.

                        I breathe liverpool - i eat liverpool - i sleep liverpool.

Bar my family, they are the most important thing in my life - i couldn't give a flying **** about any other team.

I'm from Ireland, over here some people have Celtic or Rangers as their 2nd team, but that's sectarian bollox.

I agree with that, but I know a number of people who have second teams, Wigan and the Scum, or Villa and the Scum. I can't understand how you can support 2 teams especially if they're in the same league

I have a second team, Colchester United. I make absolutly no apologies for it either. All my mates down here have them as a second team. Its were im from and were i live now. If it came to it, it would be liverpool anytime. But going to the games and looking out for the result, i dont see a problem. If they were ever to get to the prem i would be Liverpool all the way. Nothing wrong with it. Lower league football is exciting too. Lots of crunching tackles

Barcelona are my second team. Which is nice

I've noticed my local team, who I haven't gone to see play for a few years now, have been on a Man City esque spending spree (comparatively for the Conference), and are favourites to go up (despite losing their first game of the season at home ). So I may go and seem them this season.
