    The Gosling to Newcastle saga

Say it was us that let Gosling go the way Everton did, I'd be furious, he looks a top player for the future and Newcastle must be loving this bit of business especially getting him on a free.

oh aye - i heard about this bit of insider info from a source at everton on friday night.....the rumour being he'd agreed a verbal deal with kenwright....i've been told thats not the case and it's what the club are tyring to spread to save face....apparently they just completley forgot about his contract, a case of moyes thought kenwright was dealing with it, kenwright thought moyes was, someone else thought someone else etc, nobody picked it up etc - his agent touted him about and newcastle came in with a silly offer, they kept quiet till the date was up July 1st i think, then the agent contacted the Premier League to see if all was ok and yeah the deal was done......apparently heads are going to roll at goodison
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I thought a saga was when a series of events resulted in an outcome?

Jesus, I'd be furious, wouldn't have minded if we would have picked him up on a free! he'll be remembered for that goal he scored against us, although most didn't see it...

Yes, they would say that now wouldn't they - have you noticed how quick they are to change their tune?

Average young player, don't understand the fuss.

Nope, because theyve been saying it to me ever since he's been there. They love Rodwell and think this guy and Anichebe are ****.

I love nothing more than mocking Everton but when they dont even give a **** its hard to myself.

I think the thing is that for a young player who has proven himself to be decent you are looking at upwards of £3m to buy someone in and then you are not guaranteed that he would settle or fit your pattern of play. I do agree that it is odd that Newcastle would make such a good offer that a player would want to keep it quiet though.

In fact, it makes you wonder how happy he was at Everton.

aye don't think the fuss is so much about the quality of the player or anything - more about how apparently an 'admin' error by everton really ****ed up and they lost a young lad coming through the ranks on a free.....you could argue it'd be the same as say Jay Spearing slipping through the net here.

I think it's just that they've lost out on possibly a few million in transfer fees, not so much the ability of player they've lost.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
