    Cesc in tears over Barca

Watch the latest instalment of the Fabregas to Barcelona transfer story...

If you thought the long running tiresome transfer story that is Cesc Fabregas' move from Arsenal to Barcelona was over after Arsene Wenger's comments at the weekend, think again.

The Spanish press are awash with a new angle this morning on Fabregas' love for his former club. Forget Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique shoving a Barcelona shirt on Fabregas during the Spanish World Cup celebrations, this is a whole different level.

Last night, like many of the victorious Spain squad, Fabregas was honoured by his home town, Arenys de Mar, for his role in the 2010 World Cup victory.

During the tribute a picture montage was shown of Fabregas posing in team photos as part of the Barcelona youth team and, with the crowd cheering, the Arsenal captain shed a tear.

The Catalan press, namely Sport and El Mundo Deportivo, have described Fabregas' tears as the latest hint that the Spanish playmaker wants to leave Arsenal this summer.

Fabregas himself spoke of his recently deceased grandfather, who was a great fan of Barcelona, and he also wore the green-and-white striped shirt of Arenys de Mar.

The footage of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas crying as film shows him as a Barcelona youth player is on the video below.

Sorry - should clarify. No problem with Cesc getting emotional - but I am most amused at Arsenal's expense. Firstly the Barca shirt stuff, now this! They must be totally despairing at all this

Just waiting for the Barca president to come out now and say he's being treated like a slave.

Suppose it's funny from the outside looking in but that **** would be quite emotional.

Bearing in mind, Fabregas is a Catalan and has Barcelona in his blood.

Lol .. I think they will have to come around to the idea of Life without him some day very soon, must be hellish for him, would be like Stevie G going to Spain as a Youth player and Liverpool bending over backwards to sign him

dont think barca had a choice, something to do with not being able to offer a contract till a certain age but Arsenal could

Arsenal are quite good at signing up young talented players .. I know if I was in the game and talented, if all of the top european clubs came in for me (in my head) I would pick Arsenal everytime ... Wenger has this perception of giving young players a go, wither thats accurate or not is another matter

There's certainly no doubt the lad wants to go to Barca, but he clearly doesn't have the neck (in a good way) to come out at say in it in the public forum of the Arsenal fans. He knows he owes Arsenal everything, and there is obviously a genuine love for the club, but he clearly has a problem here with the main block being Arsenal have no reason to sell.
He is tied down to a long contract, and Arsenal know full well that they can wait another year (or even two) and still get mega money for him (thats the difference between this and Mascherano's situation).....................the only thing that'll make this transfer happen this year is if Cesc comes out in public, Arsenal grant his wish and Barca meet Arsenal's minimum demand.
The good thing from an Arsenal point of view is that I don't believe Cesc is the sort of player who'll let something like this affect his game if he is to stay for another year.

From what i have read, he has cited Wenger as the most important person in his career and feels he owes him.

seems a bit silly to sign for 7 years in hindsight

Most players would be there like a shot, fair play to Cesc for his honour and loyalty, he's in a very difficult situation. Torn between two lovers.

Mind you I doubt Arsenal fans see it that way.

Wenger is truly ****ting bricks at the thought of losing him. He is irreplaceable to Wenger's Arsenal and they will look decidely ordinary without him. IMO
