Arsenal really can't let him go for 30 million either, the deal would be compared to Ronaldo's and Xabi's and given Fabregas' age, potential and ability he should fetch 40 million at least IMO, so I understand their stance very well.

I'd be pretty nervous if I was an Arsenal fan!
Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

Sounds more to me like he was reminded of his deceased grandfather and shed a tear over that.

More than one way to look at this one.

He'll get Stockholm Sydrome over Wenger's kidknapping/hostage holding ways soon enough. He'll end up staying there for life, mainly out of fear.

Fabregas has just confirmed that he will be staying at Arsenal.

AKA "I wanted to go and begged them to let me, but Arsenal are refusing to budge so i will have to stay and pretend i want to be here."

                    I think he's showing a fantastic attitude.

"I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me," he added.

"I owe a lot to the club, manager and the fans and I will respect their decision and will now concentrate on the new season ahead with Arsenal."

"Firstly I would like to apologise to all the Arsenal fans for not speaking sooner about my future but I have not known what I was going to do until this moment," he explained.

"I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me. This was the club where I learnt my football, it is my home town where my friends and family are and a club where I have always dreamed of playing.

"There are not many players in the world who would not want to play for Barcelona. I have had many conversations with [Arsenal manager] Arsene Wenger both in person and over the phone over the last few months and although the content of those conversations will remain private, the conclusion is that Barcelona have had two formal offers rejected by Arsenal.

"I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on to the pitch, that is the only club I will be thinking about. I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting this speculation behind me."
If only we could've done the same with Xabi and Mascherano.

Thing is (and obviously this will depend on the length of his current deal) he will just end up walking on a Bosman eventually, if they keep him until there.

Having said that, i think his current contract was a 7 year deal, which i'm sure he is now regretting signing

think its an age thing for Xabi it was maybe his last chance to join the likes of real madrid whereas Fabregas circus will happen every year.

as for Masher he obviously doesnt have the same loyalty as Fabregas if only all footballers were like that.

Is Fabregas being loyal, or just accepting that there's nothing he can do if Arsenal refuse to sell him?

you know as well as i do, that if a player wants to move he will do.

I am sure he has done a deal ot move in next season or 2 as he feels he owes wenger as he mentioned.

The latter I would suggest, i think coming into this season, with Liverpool City Spurs Villa Chelsea and Man U all scrambling for those 4 places, losing there best player regardless of money on the table could cost them a hell of a lot more in the long run if the miss out on the top 4

Its simple really. Arsenal value him at atleast £50-60m because of his age and quality. They probably rate him as the best central midfield player in the world. Barcelona obviously don't want to pay that much for any player, let alone pay it to get back one of their own

There was no chance of him ever leaving this summer, especially since Barca had already decided to spent £40m on David Villa
