But it's alright for our Carra to retire when he's not a first choice pick for England?

carragher did not retire after being named in a squad. He made everyone aware of his intentions and told mccalren. he came back as a special one-off request. If you lsiten to his talksport interview he said he'll come back as a one-off if he was ever required, if england were in desperate trouble. He stuck to his words this year. as it was a one-off why would he need to announce another retirement. if you read robinson's quotes he was waiting for this call up just to throw it back in capello's face. They have both had weeks if not years in robinson's case to announce their retirement.

i revoke my comments on wes brown. He's got some decency about him. Just heard he spoke to capello in person to let him know that he was no longer going to play for england.

            This is jsut funny
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Still, there was a wonderful bit there in yesterday's post-match, where Carrick was going by Capello at the podium, and Capello was clearly wondering if he was alright and that he will ring him....................................who's just behind him, getting ****ing ignored completely........Michael poxy Owen !

Now there's a man who should ****ing retire........

Fabio Capello meltdown deepens..."I don't know what to do" about players" minds. That'll go down well with #ENG players

Aaarrgghh who ****ing cares what the England players think. If these 'snubs' yesterday were for real - Cole, Rooney etc - Capello should just ****ing drop them all. I hate the mentality of English players. They think they're the dogs bollocks and they're not, most of them are ****ing ordinary.

When Capello was handing out the medals yesterday at Wembley, Cole walked past Fabio and his outstretched hand without shaking it (he's since claimed he "didn't see him" ) as did Rooney and a couple of others.

All these players need a kick up the arse, spoiled the lot of them.

Should England bring in a new generation of players, maybe risk not going to Euro2012 and then be stronger in the years to come?

You've got some very good players coming up the youth setups of clubs, you've won a youth tournament recently haven't you? And have done very well in some of the other youth tournaments aswell.

That's the thing - there is a decent squad there but they aren't world beaters. The right attitude would make them a capable team at international level but unlike say the German team players seem to feel that they shouldn't have to put the effort in to become a team or put the team ahead of their personal glory.

I really think that the team is too stupid to succeed.

The squad Capello picked is an interesting one. I think people are over critical of the quality there. It's not a world beating squad but the young players do have the potential to add many of the qualities lacking in the team at the world cup. I like the idea of using friendlies (and the U21s) as a way of getting a wide pool of players who understand the way that the team is trying to play.

Capello has a lot of work to do to get back the authority he used to have. I think weakening his stance on injured players and his handling of the final few selection choices left a lot to be desired. Hopefully though he will learn from that.
