This is all getting a bit much now
I've heard idiotic Spurs fans, talking about their prospects and my god, some of them are deluded.
But then SSN wheeled out another of their 'experts', Graham Roberts.
Now, Graham Roberts played over 200 games for Spurs and wasted no time in rivalling fellow cretin Paul Merson, in challenging to win the league of the incoherently clueless buffoon pundits. So it should come as no surprise, that Roberts has predicted that Spurs will get to the last 8 'at least'
Apparently WHL is a hard ground to play at, and the fans make it hostile (i've never personally thought of it as rivalling the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, myself) enough to really make it difficult for the visiting side. Roberts fancies Spurs to win all 3 of the home group games (of course it doesnt matter that the draw hasnt yet been made, as the place is SO hostile
) and thinks they could maybe win the group, thus getting an easier knockout tie. This, in the cretinous mind of Roberts, is why they'll get to the quarter finals (at least, lest we forget).
Then Sky had a snippet of an interview with Wenger, who was asked if he thought Spurs have what it takes to get through the group stage. "Of course" was his answer, which is perfectly sensible, as having what it takes isnt the same as saying they 'will' qualify. Wenger then made a crucial point, which us as Liverpool fans (along with Arsenal, United and Chelsea fans) are only too aware of, but that Spurs fans are setting themselves up for a rude awakening with - "you have to make sure you can manage to focus adequately on the Champions League AND the league".
That is the point Spurs fans just dont seem to get.
It would be delightful if the draw gives them the kind of test that'll make the penny drop, with an almighty thump.
Draw commences at 4:30pm today.
