totally agree. I can not remember the last time arsenal had a tough 2nd seed in their group never mind a decent 3rd seed. Every year they get a piss easy group. the only competitive group is ac milan and real, non of the rest seem like throwing up an upset unless utd, crash and burn.

I've always been a fan of Malouda.

Cech and Reina are pretty much the same thing, too close to call.

Now, their back for was far better as a unit, and I'd have taken Terry, Carvalho, Cole over any of our defence.

Alonso was the only midifielder I'd have taken as Gerrard was played just behind Torres. You had a choice of Ballack, Lampard, Malouda, Cole (Joe), Deco, Essien. You have an argument for Mascherano, but they had a good enough midfield where a Mascherano type player isn't needed, and Essien can play that role and do so much more. Riera was never anything more than average.

Up front they had Drogba, on a par with Torres and Anelka (the leagues top scorer that season).

If they didn't have better players than us man for man how come they've won the league or been there until the end and we've only come close once in christ knows long. They're a far better unit than us. They rarely underachieved that season and we rarely overachieved.

are you comparing our players now or actually two years ago

i would argue our best team was better than theirs that year. IF we had built on that then we would have been right up there but we didnt.

Not sure cech is up there with Reina and hasnt been for a couple of years

i would take essien and drogba and anelka but it would be in a rotation with the players we already had

remember we are looking at a team not a bunch of individuals.

Let's no get ahead of our selfs though, Yossi is good against that level of opposition, he hasn't played much for Chelsea in the league so far IIRC, and that's for a reason. He did sometimes look like Messi for us as well.
