I think the phrasing is a little confusing, but I can see what people mean when they say it. They are falling out of love with football, due to their general disillusionment with the way the game is changing, but can't quit it completely because they love Liverpool too much.

That's how I see it anyway, and I can certainly relate to it a bit.

Oh me too right now....but I've heard people saying it for years, before any of our ills, before football got boring and overhyped...almost in a bid to prove superfan status. "I love LFC but I don't even like football!!!!!!"

I remember reading an article by a Manc years ago saying "I love Manchester United but I don't like football, Manchester United is all that bothers me". Yeah right, superfan cunt.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Probably the only football i don't watch is Scottish - i love goals on sunday or even better - Netbusters, just goals and music for an hour.

I can't understand it.....yes I love liverpool, but without football there would be no liverpool to love.

At the start of the season I would watch as many matches as possible, record MOTD, Revista and the German highlights, but once we start losing our matches I find it hard to tune in to any football. I’m finding it easier this year though, as I expected the worst from the start of season, so it’s a relief to watch other matches. The Accademy is probably my favourite for this year, although it pisses me off how you can’t Sky+ lfc tv.

Oh, and double handshake about the Scottish football, it really is terrible.

Really pisses me off too. Especially as within two minutes of talking to them you know they have no real interest in football (usually when they regurgitate the usual garbage that was in the papers or came from Andy Gray’s mouth), yet they still try to preach to you about the club. As I’ve mentioned before, I hate it when people tell me they support Liverpool, as there is too many of these type of ****ers about.

aye - i can't understand it either.....surely you must love football first, then liverpool if that makes sense.

If liverpool football club ceased to exist – i’d still watch football, follow it every day – maybe not with the same passion as i do supporting a club. But i’d still love the sport, play the sport and watch the sport.

Whilst i don’t take it to jamie carragher addicted extremes and watch every single second of every single game played around the world everyday - i do however first thing when i switch tv on, check what football is on, if nothing, i then check what other sport is on, if nothing see if there is either a film or some comedy on, next it’s whats been sky plussed – finally, if all else fails i’ll throw a **** average 7 out of 10 crap film on
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I had to talk to this one fella I know for years, and listen to so much crap about Liverpool it was unbelievable. I knew he wasn’t a proper supporter, yet I had to listen to this guff all the time. Eventually when drunk, he later confides that he doesn’t really like football, prefers motorsport or some other crap. It also transpires that he supports other teams from other leagues too.

Anyway, it’s a persons own prerogative if they prefer other sports, but don’t try to dominate every conversation with something you’ve read about or heard when you clearly don’t know what the **** you are on about, and don’t start acting like Mr Liverpool when you watch a match in company, screaming and yelling at the tv and storming out of the bar, when in reality by the time the bar door closes you’ve forgot about the result, and don’t come back with your (Andy’s) post match analysis and try to tell me what happen during the ****ing game. CUNT!!!

              go ed lad....

I even...if not playing, regularly go and watch mates of mine playing in various amateur leagues, from good standard to funny as **** shocking standards on a saturday/sunday in the park - thats how much i love football - so screw you hippies with your 'i love liverpool but hate football' mantra.

That is such a massive thing in Australia. So many people say they "support so and so team" 90% of these people are United or Chelsea fants because they win. Then when you ask them the first thing about their team and they don't even know anything! Whenever they here news about a win vs Liverpool they suddenly remember how big a fan of the team they are. What gets me is when they go out and buy all the merchandise under the sun but don't even watch their team play... So annoying...
