It has always been the worry with him - how does he handle it when things go against him. Not sure that the weather is the problem but more generally when the going gets tough VdV has tended to drift from prominence. It could be that Redknapp is the ideal manager or it could be that he has had the good fortune to play in games with a lot of space between DM and the defence allowing him to play with freedom. Robinho looked unstoppable when he first came to the PL.

For all that people say we should have spent the money I don't think he would suit our rigid system under Roy so it would not have helped us much. It's not so much the signings we made and didn't make but the tactics we seem wedded to that I think are at fault.

I wasn't suggesting we should've signed him, I was just stating that I think he's a really good player. Although, a few years back I did think we should be sign him and when we were linked I was more a less saying that he'd be a decent option.
