For what it's worth Murphy was 100% right, whether he is/was right to name specific clubs or managers is a little debatable but I know for a fact managers send players out with instructions to 'get about' certain players.
No-one deliberately will go out to break someones leg (for example) that is just sometimes an unfortunate outcome
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Bit of a tit isnt he? Pretty much saying Sturridge needs to forget all this recovery stuff, man up and get on the training pitch. Errr thats what happened in the week you bellend and now look. Hopefully he doesn't become a manager, too many of this sort as it is.

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

He just comes across as an idiot there. The issue with Sturridge is that he has taken a knock and needs time to recover, it's not a general fitness issue where he couldn't play two games in a week as Murphy is suggesting at one point. As a professional Sturridge will know what he needs to do to recover, and missing a day or two training (or doing lighter training) is much better that telling him to man up and then watch him break down in training or the next game and he's out for 3 weeks as has happened here.

This is one of the issues I have with international sides/managers they only care about themselves, they would rather rush a player back from an injury to play the second game in an international break and then his club have to deal with the implications when he breaks down than have him miss the game, and IMO that is out of order, it shows disrespect for both the player and their club.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yup. Murphy seems decent enough but that's a set of uninformed comments, lacking in context or any understanding of the player and his requirements. Wonder if he ever told Ledley King to stop moaning and get on with it.

Lets face it. He's really just sticking up for Hodgson

Idiotic statement for Murphy, i really think he's being disengenuous too, no way has he gone his whole career without seeing certain players get different types of training regimes to suit their body, and more so if carrying a niggle.

I think that it sad to here someone of Murphy's age come out with these types of comments, it is the type of stuff you would expect the old school managers of the 70's and 80's to say, the ones who 'don't believe in this sports science and psychology nonsense'. But having been with us under Houllier for such a long time I am somewhat surprised, I guess subsequently working under the likes of Roy Hodgson has made an impression on him.

Fair play to Shearer on that programme. Murphy just sounds like a thick old school cunt. No wonder he loved Roy when he was at Fulham.

Exactly that. He loves him. I like Murphy overall but every so often he comes out with some unbelievable horse ****.

                      Ouch!!

Match of the Day pundits face £4.5m tax avoidance bill
Two Match of the Day presenters are facing £4.5 million in tax bills after investing in an alleged tax avoidance scheme.

Former England and Liverpool footballer Danny Murphy (pictured) has been ordered to pay a £2.5 million tax bill after investing in two Ingenious schemes in 2005.

Martin Keown, former Arsenal defender, is understood to have paid over £2 million to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) according to the Times. He confirmed he received a ‘retrospective tax bill’ over his Ingenious investment but denied the £2 million figure was accurate.

Two other ex-footballers and Match of the Day presenters, Gary Lineker and Robbie Savage, have also invested in alleged tax avoidance film schemes set up by Ingenious Media Partners.

Rio Ferdinand, former England captain and another Match of the Day presenter invested in a film scheme set up by a company called Scion but it is understood he and other investors settled any tax bills with HMRC in 2011.

Lineker invested in five Ingenious schemes between 2003 and 2007 and Savage invested in two schemes in 2005. The Times said it was not known how much they invested and whether they claimed the tax relief or not.

Ingenious Media has previously denied HMRC’s allegations that it is involved in a series of schemes that were not legitimate investment opportunities but a means of avoiding tax.

HMRC ramped up its crackdown on tax avoidance schemes by sending out 600 accelerated payment demands, including to Ingenious schemes.

Accelerated payment notices order individuals to pay the disputed tax amount within 90 days before HMRC challenges the individual’s scheme in court.

HMRC's court battle against Ingenious kick-started in November 2014 and a decision is expected next month.

yes he's good but lets ease off on the Hype link
England manager Roy Hodgson should build his team around Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to ex-Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy.

Murphy, speaking on Match of the Day, added: "He's so young, but he's so powerful.
"I'm struggling to see a weakness in the lad's game."

                            He is a joke of a pundit/commentator.

He was adding his expert opinion to our FA cup games against both AFC Wimbledon and against Bolton.

Against Wimbledon he could not stop praising Skrtel for being, throughout his career, aggressive, hard, and rarely making mistakes.

Against Bolton he was on about how Skrtel was prone to being rash and making mistakes and how he could sometimes be muscled out of games.

He seems to just throws in soundbytes and hopes he has gotten something right about a player. Comes across as being just as clueless about players as the likes of Robbie Savage.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
