    Harry Kewell

I know a lot of people aren't the biggest fan of Harry but obviously I am. This thread is another thread like the Ronaldo and King Kenny thread. Basically, I was just watching the Aussies play and every time Kewell got the ball I thought to myself there was a time when one of the best clubs in the world payed a lot of money for you, but now he is so average. While I know he was never that good for Liverpool he was good for Leeds as my old man tells me. What can you tell me about him play wise and ability wise, and everthing else you know. Also, how did he compare to other world class players at the time. I also started the thread because you guys here know more about football then anybody here (australia) and despite all the questions I never seem to have been answered to the extent I would have liked. Cheers guys!

I didn't mind him. He had all the ability to be great for Liverpool but he always got injured. Towards the end at LFC he was poor which was due to the long lay offs with injury problems. When we signed him i was made up. I will always remember that goal he scored at highbury for leeds in his last season there. The only problem i have is he signed for Galatasaray which was very poor considering he was in the Leeds team that played there when two of the Leeds fans were Murdered.

I think of him as an Australian Robert Pires. Can't be arsed thinking why though.

He was a fantastic player for Leeds and when we signed him I truly thought "this is it". At Leeds he was more than just a winger. Could beat people, but also had the craft and the guile to play in the hole and thread lovely little passes through. Capable of scoring wonderful goals. I particularly remember a superb chip against Sheffield Wednesday. He had it all, really. One of the best players in the league at the time.

And then he signed for us.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He was very good in his prime. Fast, good passer, exciting and got goals. Would never have classed him as "World Class" though, even in his Leeds days. He'd have been one of the top 10 players in the PL during his heyday. Always in my Fantasy Football team when he was at Leeds!

Top 10 in the PL but not world class? Would you say that we (australia) had one of the best wingers in the world?

I don't like him for many reasons. Mainly because leading up to our big night in Istanbul he was injured for a few months and at no point did he make an effort to get fit to play for us in the league when we were struggling.
Everytime he opened his mouth it was to say that he would get himself ready for the champions league final. He is a selfish cunt who had no interest in fighting for the team and only for self-glory. I was horrified to see him return and start that night in Istanbul and he ended up nearly costing us big time because he clearly should never have been on the park

                  He's a ******

Can't help it, seen his name in the thread title and read your first sentence and then had no choice but to mention that he's a ******

Would he still be a ****** if he singhandedly won the league the year after for us if he was still selfish?

I don't think many people dislike him, most Liverpool fans are frustrated because he was a class player at Leeds and never got near to showing the same form for us. Injuries didn't help and it just became frustrating that he was on so much money and never played. He was a class player but never showed it for us.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Messi, SG, FT, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Henry etc. were/are old world class but Kewell was a division below that. He was probably one of the the top wingers in the world at that time but that time did not last long enough.

Kewell, a dozen half decents games make you world class or even a great player. He was mediocre at best
