    Gascoigne caught drink driving

No real surprise, but it's a shame that his life has been so ruined by drink.

Former England and Newcastle United midfielder Paul Gascoigne is to face a drink-driving charge after being arrested by police on Friday.

The 43-year-old has had a plethora of problems that have dogged his life in recent years, including alcoholism and legal problems.

Gascoigne is already in line to appear in court for a separate charge of drink driving, which it is said will be heard next month.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving in the Jesmond area at around 2.45pm on Friday October 8.

"He was charged with driving with excess alcohol and bailed to appear before Newcastle Magistrates on October 20."

Gascoigne was recently set to be appointed manager of non-league side Garforth Town, but he pulled out of the deal.

Lost sympathy for the guy. I know it's an addiction, but people have to take some responsibility for themselves. He can endanger himself all he likes, but not other people.

          jesus.

at some point you just have to ask yourself if you're ready todie being the person you are, because it gets more and more likely that you will, and soon.

Sums it up completely for me. Only so much sympathy that you can have.

He's pushing it though, I mean it's inevitable that some day he'll be on the news after killing himself or having a serious accident.

It'd be a waste of taxpayers money to put him in jail, let the ****er drink himself to death.
