    Its the usual Fergie bull****.

He just putting across his version of events, to paint the club in the "we did everything we could to keep" him light.

I reckon he caught Shrek shaggin Mrs Red nose and that's why he off.

Where will he go tho???? I can't see the Scum letting him sign for any of the Prem challengers, so we could be in with a chance

Some of the quotes are above, lifted from Twitter.

It was pretty remarkable though...normally he's so abrasive in these situations but he seemed down, defeated, extremely shocked....it was very very strange.

Oh okay, apparently the ankle injury was picked up in training this morning, it's for real amazingly. Left Carrington on crutches.

Fergie knows that with the debt on the club losing Rooney is the final nail in the coffin for that lot. He was the main man

Sky's james Cooper looks gutted. Hes a manc fan isn't he?

He's United's poster boy. ****ed without him. Best players have been Giggs, Scholes and Van Der Saar. All going to retire and need to replace them aswell as Rooney! ****ed me thinks

How much would you piss yourself laughing IF and its not going to happen we signed Rooney in the summer by giving him the money to buy out his contract?

If I wasn't worried about Torres, id be in fits of laughter.

It is ****ing funny though 'We are as bemused as anyone else'

He does realise that he just knocked a further £10m off Rooneys price by admitting that he wants to leave

Maybe Rooney slept with his wife or intimated he would do if he can't leave

Yeah can imagine he won't be called Rooney anymore by the mancs. Its scouser now. Iv been telling them for years, your best players a scouser

Everyone thought after Ronaldo they would be ****ed but they still did well. I think they wont struggle in the immediate future. If they replace VDS they will still have a good team. 4-3-3 with nani-berba-valencia up top is better then our front men. Still got Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson who aren't horrible and they still have Vidic and Evra at the back with some promising players. I think we need a few more years before they are really ****.

Why the **** am I defending them

Im not worried bout Torres at all mate and you shouldn't be. If he goes he goes as lets face it he has had zero effect on our team this season.

18mth left on his contract and wants to stay in North West apparently. City and Liverpool only possible if thats the case. Trouble is he wouldn't sell him to Liverpool, maybe Gerrard should try and twist his arm as Gerrard as admited Rooney as mentioned to him before join United. Not gona lie would love to see Rooney at LFC just cant see it happening even if we had the funds and Rooney wanted to.

To be honest I think Rooney's best days are behind him, he certainly won't have the kind of longevity a Giggs or Scoles will have. I think some players just peak early. I also get the impression that Rooney and his agent is after one very last big paycheck and guess who'll pay it, yep City. I have to say I have similar doubts about Torres, is it the nature of the modern game? Do strikers burn out quicker today due to the way the game is being played (different thread methinks).
