Nope.
There is a difference. The mancs are successful and challenging for the league, we were not when Owen left, we weren't even close. I think it's about Rooney's motivation, he appears to be chasing the money now, and people are criticizing him for it. I think the managers themselves probably know a bit more on the situation (City tapping him up), as has been hinted by Holloway.

I understand the emotions but most people would leave the job they have and move to another with more money - everything else being equal. On tapping up then it's hypocritical for top clubs to tap players up when they want them but claim it's unfair when it's done to their players.

From memory I think the Bosman was resisted by the football authorities at the time but the ability of clubs to hold on to players against their will was found to be unlawful.

I wouldn't be happy if it was Torres instead of Rooney but I'm enjoying the situation.

He's a ****ing hypocrite. Do you really think he'd have sat there and reacted like that if it was, say, Torres or Fabregas doing the same thing? Like **** he would. Like everyone else he's kissing Ferguson's arse, simple as that.

Agreed. I mean, how many times have Utd benefited from unsettling players? Now the shoe is on the other foot, 'the game is so wrong.'

Saying that, I do think he's speaking from the heart rather than trying to suck up to Fergie. He just seems the type.

Don't get me wrong, I quite like him and he's a refreshing change. He can't be speaking from the heart though cos if he was he wouldn't have ****ed Plymouth over just like Rooney's doing to United. Hypocrite. Pure arse licking, he wants in in Ferguson's clique.

err, how many months after Owen leaving did we win the Champions League?

The funniest thing about Holloways rant at UEFA and FIFA is the delusion that either organisation can overturn EU Law. It wasn't at an FA tribunal that the Bosman rulling was made you dumb arse Holloway.

As i pointed out in the Rooney v Ferguson thread, where was all this scandal and 'bullying' talk when Owen basically did the same thing to Rafa?

                    Nobody said a word.

Now it's ferguson on the receiving end, it's a big scandal.

                    Hypocrasy.

It's quite different. Rooney has no basis for suggesting that Man U can't compete where as Leicester were in a position to forward his career.

Rooney is doing this for money and nothing else at all and I don't think Holloway was kissing Slur's arse at all, I think he genuinly believed in what he was saying and Rooney was the topic because it's the current headliner.

Owen had good reason to question the ambitions of LFC, Rooney does not have any good reason to question Man U and the bit about it being based on owners is absolute bollocks from Rooney. When you are 4th in the table and still in the CL and all other competitions what right do you have to question how the squad will be strengthened?

We won the CL that season, so he proved to have had no right to question it whatsoever.

And regarding United, i think there's definitely an issue there when it comes to future competitiveness at the highest level. They're probably 18-24 months behind what our situation was, but they're heading down the same road as we did while the Glazers remain.

We're already seeing it now - Ronaldo leaves for £80m and they spend £20m on Owen and Valencia. That tells you all you need to know.

IMO it's the same thing. Rooney sees United not replacing Ronaldo despite receiving £80m for him, he sees them buying Sunday League players for £7.4m, and no more big marquee signings. He's right. The Glazers are killing them and he wants out, don't see the big deal. Holloway's just a massive hypocrite and like everyone else is blowing smoke up Ferguson's arse. His analogy about the house was laughable and flawed. United don't own Rooney.

I think there's plenty for Rooney to question..having just seen City and Madrid spend what they have to build sides that will/should set them up for the next few seasons..and still they want better players....and while this go's on..utd sit still, something they've never done before.

My point being that until there is a negative impact on results then how does any of this even come in to his thinking? Say this year they finish 4th, get knocked out the CL early and then sell Nani then I would totally understand it but I don't think it makes any difference who you sell while you are still competitive. He may or may not have a point but at the moment he is without a doubt a major reason for any failures right about now.

He wants City money, that's fine but he is trying to play it like a martyr.
