    Spain's top level tax rate

Gone up to 46%, or so i've heard.

How might this impact on players and their chosen transfer destinations, do we think?

Xabi might as well come back

Isn't the highest marginal tax rate in the UK now 50%?
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The way Madrid pay their players mean they wont pay nothing like this.

Yeah but all else being even, when you're being paid as much as these guys then 4% is going to be a fair amount of money.

By the same token, when you're being paid that much, you're hardly going to miss whatever that 4% equates to.

Yeah maybe. But some people are different I suppose. If you're a professional and everything else is the same then you'd go to where you get most money. Very few players play for the team they supported and moving around is part of the job so the kind of emotional 'reasoning' we'd use doesn't apply to footballers all that often.

Still, if it means Alonso comes back then I'm all for it obviously.

I'm sure Spanish players work around the tax anyway somehow? Can't remember how but I read something on it. Yours, well-informed

If I had to take a 4% pay cut on what I'm paid to post on Est (it would work out at about a £2,000 paycut) I'd have to think about moving across to a Real Madrid forum or something.

I mentioned this in the ronney thread IIRC that there was a big chance that the spanish tax rate will increase. However I'm sure there is special dispensation for entertainers in Spain and footballers are classed into it; similar to the very little tax you pay if your a musician and live in Ireland
