    Edgar Davids

    Davids makes Crystal Palace exit
Crystal Palace have confirmed that former Ajax, AC Milan and Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids has left Selhurst Park.

The 37-year-old arrived at Palace on a pay-as-you-play deal in August having been without a club since leaving Ajax in 2008.

He told his own website: "Today I have decided that my journey as a player of Crystal Palace FC has come to an end."

The former Netherlands international made only seven starts for the Eagles.

Davids, who won a Champions League winners medal with Ajax, added: "I want to thank all the people who supported me and gave me one of the greatest experiences of my life."

A statement on Crystal Palace's website read: "The club would like to thank Edgar for his time here and wish him all the best of luck for the future."

The former Spurs player began his career at Ajax in 1991, playing in a side that included Patrick Kluivert, Edwin van der Sar and Finidi George.

A year after winning the Champions League with the Dutch side, he left to join AC Milan.

But Davids failed to make an impression at the Rossoneri, making just 15 appearances during a year-long stay before completing a £5.3m move to Juventus.

The Surinam-born midfielder went on to make 135 Serie A starts for the Old Lady, before leaving in 2004 for brief stints at Barcelona and Inter Milan.

He joined Spurs in 2005, making 40 league appearances before returning to Ajax in 2007.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old striker Wilfried Zaha has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

Zaha has scored once in 14 appearances for the Eagles this season.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Could be back playing within 2 weeks

Didn't realise he still lived over here.

Edgar Davids joins League Two Barnet as joint head coach

Former Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids has joined League Two side Barnet as joint head coach with a view to also resuming his playing career.

The 39-year-old, who played for Ajax, Juventus and Barcelona in a glittering career, will assist Mark Robson at the Football League's bottom club.

Davids tweeted: "Happy to say I will join my local football club Barnet as a player/coach."

A Barnet statement said he could make his debut within a fortnight.

The Bees director of football Paul Fairclough added: "The capture of Davids is a statement of intent by our club to improve results and lay further foundations for the future.

"Edgar is a world-renowned footballer and will be a great example to all our young players."

Davids said: "I'm happy to explore my possibilities and share my knowledge and experience with Barnet.

"I am very excited about the challenge ahead."

Barnet are yet to win a game this season and have just three points from their opening 11 fixtures.

Davids, who came out of retirement to play six games for Championship side Crystal Palace in 2010, also spent a couple of seasons at Tottenham between 2005-07.

He won 76 international caps and helped Ajax win the Champions League, Uefa Cup and three Eredivisie titles

In Italy, he picked up three Serie A championships with Juventus and the Coppa Italia with Inter Milan.
