The (office) workplace has changed over time. They changed because it became blatantly obvious that they would lose their jobs if they didn't. In fairness there was also genuine change and recognition that they were wrong, having been exposed to other people's views on the matter. I suspect you are thinking about absolute Nazis rather than the casual racist. Whilst I wouldn't under-estimate your NF types, casual racism is I think much more dangerous because it is much more prevalent and finds limp excuses for itself, usually beginning with "I'm not racist but..." and often ends with "...ok I am racist but I'm entitled to my opinion." The greatest lie in history!Last edited by Tatterdemalion; 18-11-10, 11:17 PM.Really?

My point is, i dont think you change deep rooted bigotry via punishment - you do it via education. IMO of course.
If someone's racist views 'change' because they know they could lose their job, have their views genuinely changed? Or have they just realised that failure to keep their views to themselves could lose them their jobs?

Racism
I don't get it, simply do not get it.
And that proves Craig's point about education. We have had anti-racism absolutely drilled into us since we were kids at school and we have taken the opposite view of taking a disliking to racist people. Being racist to the racists!!96 Never Forgotten

Every Generation gets slightly less racist. My Grandperants are causually racist, my mum and dads generation were a touch too. My generation its pretty unheard of, well in a serious manner anyways. So im pretty sure my kids generation will be even less. It will go eventually. It still has no place in any society.*Except Michael, who died.

Mario Balotelli has dismissed reports he is set to leave Manchester City, committing himself to the club until next summer.
The 20-year-old striker only joined City in August, making a £24million move from Inter Milan.
But injuries have restricted him to just four appearances and he was sent off after scoring both goals in the recent 2-0 win at West Brom.
The Italy international was then seen in a restaurant with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani after Sunday's Milan derby, sparking speculation he could return to his homeland.
Milan have lost veteran forward Filippo Inzaghito a season-ending knee injury and Balotelli is a lifelong fan of the Rossoneri, but he insists he will be staying put come the January transfer window.
Contract
"The likelihood is that I will be at City up to June," he told Mediaset.
"I have a five-year contract and I can't say anything."
Balotelli returned to Milan at the weekend before linking up with the Italy squad for their friendly against Romania.
And while the City star admits he broke bread with Galliani, he believes the media are reading too much into the meeting.
"It's true that I had supper with Galliani after the derby," Balotelli said.
"But had I eaten with (Inter president Massimo) Moratti the media would have said that I was going to Inter."

Mario Balotelli and Jerome Boateng had to be pulled apart after a training ground clash on Friday.
The Manchester Evening News has released pictures of a confrontation between the duo, which allegedly came about after Balotelli reacted to a tackle from Boateng.
They had to be separated after a heated exchange but are also seen clearing the air with a hug later in the same session.
Both players moved to Eastlands over the summer, with Balotelli joining from Inter Milanand Boateng leaving Hamburg.
Roberto Mancini overhauled his squad during the transfer window with a number of other big-money signings and there have been several reports of disharmony in the camp this season.
Competition
Vincent Kompany and Emmanuel Adebayor became involved in an on-field row, while there was a similar incident between Yaya Toure and James Milner.
A number of City players have stressed that there are no divisions in the squad, just a high level of competition for places that has benefited the team.
Mancini will therefore not be happy that these fresh images of Balotelli and Boateng have come to light ahead of Saturday's home game against in-form Bolton.
The Italian manager has previously spoken to Balotelli about the importance of controlling his temper and staying focused on his performances.Last edited by Bender; 04-12-10, 12:32 PM.
