I didnt want to go round in circles either dom, i just couldnt (and cant) figure out why you're so adamant that we apparently cant get top quality players, because we're not in CL - when recent evidence proves that some players of that ilk DO move to clubs in our position.
But never mind.
No, you didn't want to, but couldn't stop yourself.
I think money speaks louder than CL places, for many top players, especially in the EPL.
If players see a team spending large amounts it shows they are going in the right direction, even if they aren't in the CL. I think Aguero could still have gone to City even if they weren't in the CL.
With our spending we could have been more ambitious because of the new owners. Liverpool could still attract big players. The likes of Mata and Hazard are not yet out of our reach I feel. It is just up to us to show the ambition.
Eden Hazard transfer 'on' as Arsenal look to splash Cesc Fabregas cash
Arsenal are stepping up their quest to replace Cesc Fabregas with a move for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard.
The Gunners have long been linked with the tricky Belgian winger, and now reports from France suggest the Ligue 1 side are bracing themselves for an opening offer from Arsene Wenger.
The 20-year-old would command a transfer fee of roughly £27million, and although that would usually be enough to scare off the north Londoners, Wenger knows he’s under pressure to deliver a top class replacement for his departed skipper.
The Frenchman has constantly stated that he will only buy if he can find a player that improves on what he’s already got in his squad, and Hazard would appear to fit that bill.
With superb technique, and speedy footballing brain, the Belgian international perfectly fits the mold of an Arsenal signing.
His age would also play an important factor in any board decision to bid for him, as pragmatically, he would have a good sell-on value.
With fan unrest at an all-time high, and the Gunners armed with a pile of cash from Fabregas' sale, Wenger may well be forced into breaking his transfer record to finally land one of his long term targets.
