I agree with Craig, if there is value they'll pay the money it seems.
But there must be a limit to money available. I seriously doubt we'd have paid £35m for Carroll or any other player if we hadn't have sold Torres for £50m.

paying £20m for a player is different to paying £35m.

well of course, Carroll only came in as we needed to replace Torres.

It's hard to know what their limits are on fees for players but if you look at Henderson and Downing as a combined £35+ Million you could assume if the right player was available for that amount they would consider paying it.

Of course there's a limit, but they are seriously minted.

Fair enough, I just see them as the type of owners who would throw their own money into the club, I think all the money spent has been generated through the business. I think they are very smart business people and will turn LFC into a money machine, bit like the Glazers, but without the debt.

Yeah they will, but i think they realise that it will initially require substantial investment in order to take the club to the level whereby it's competitive enough to generate huge revenues.

spending the revenue we make is already a fairly substantial investment.

It is, but there's work to be done to get the team competing properly and once that is done, we'll generate far more.

point being i'm not sure how much of our transfer money is really going to come from their pockets. i can't wait to find out though.

I don't expect there to be a very big net investment into the club from outside over a long term period. But like Moores used to, cashflow can be aleviated in the short term through directors loans to the club.

Eden Hazard has informed Lille of his desire to move to Real Madrid, and will turn down offers from other clubs, according to reports.

The Belgium international recently stated that he is ready to leave the Ligue 1 champions for a bigger club at the end of the 2011-12 campaign and seems to have clear ideas about where his future lies, according to El Confidencial.

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have reportedly already made offers in the region of 30 million euros for Hazard, which were swiftly turned down by the Champions League hopefuls, while Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter and Juventus are all keeping tabs on the winger too.

Hazard only wants to land at Real Madrid, though, as he is determined to make a name for himself at the Bernabeu.

Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane has repeatedly expressed his admiration for Hazard and the Frenchman is reportedly eager to lure the 20-year-old away from Ligue 1.

Hazard has a contract with Lille until the summer of 2015 and an offer in excess of 40 million euros could be needed to secure the Hazard's services.

                          Yep.

Imo we are about 2 years late when it comes to recruiting top notch young talent.

Once the entire world becomes aware of their potential we have small or no chance to sign them.

We can still get them but then we must be prepared to pay £30m, £40m, £50m for a player and pay him sky high wages or else the clubs that can afford to do that will snap them up.

I don't like how the transfer market look like but there is really no other way. We must do what City did when they couldn't offer CL football.

If we don't? Well, then we won't be a top club anymore. If we want to win the league/CL then we must compete against the mega rich clubs in the transfer market.

We won't make a profit but football these days isn't about profit. It is about winning titles.

Man C for example make big losses but they can cope because in the end Sheikh Mansour will make up the losses he make in other ways. Man C is a part of another big company. The good PR for example he get thanks to owning City is probably worth a massive amount of money.

No way will our owners run us at a loss every season. We can't do what Man City do/did.
