Let's have a look at the assumptions here. If you are going to compare teams across eras then you need to do it 'fairly'. I'd like to see Xavi and Iniesta and all the rest play with an old, wet, lace-up leather football on a ploughed field. I doubt they'd be quite as effective as teams from an earlier era then.

Probably the most under-rated player in football. He has improved massively over the last 3 years, he is brilliant for them and he's everything with them so why would they have regrets??

Well because Reina is a better all round keeper. Valdes is a good shot stopper but prone to mistakes, it's just a good job that his mistakes don't cost them many matches as they're usually a couple of goals up. I don't think he's improved all that much, I don think the Barca defence has improved massively over the last couple of years with the addition on Pique they are much more capable at the back and less exposed.

It's all a pointless exercise. Barcelona were great last night (from what I saw of it ) and can probably play any other current team off the pitch. That's good enough - I don't see how ahistorical and flawed comparisons really move things on at all.
