      WTF happened?
He is constantly linked with big jobs in South America, usually in Brazil and Argentina. I know that people here don't think that's anything but for South Americans to get offered the job at Boca, like he was is something really special. He said he'd never work in Argentina again and that's one of the reasons why he works in obscurity - he also likes a project but he's too nomadic to finish them.

At Betis it was more the club being in a shambles than his fault, there's been several managers there in the last 3 seasons.

Great manager and with a different rub of the green could've won the CL twice, Serie A and other competitions. He'll be forgotten in years to come if he doesn't have some resurgence with someone giving him a chance.

Worth noting that he didn't build the squad at Valencia though. And of his favourite players, including Kily Gonzalez, Farinos etc Rafa and the sporting director at the time; Llorente (?) made key decisions to get rid of them and replace them with new players for example, Vicente who many thought of it madness to replace Kily who was one of the league's best wingers with such a young player. There were a few other gambles of this ilk which seemed to fit into place quite nicely.

Finally on Cuper, he's a really defensive, even somewhat cynical in his approach at times, as football is changing we've found out it's not always the way to go, which is probably why he's less of an attractive option for clubs in need of managers. Also he has made some terrible career decisions which is why I don't think that many teams will look at him twice.
