The long throw-in is not that unique, we use to employ it to an extent with Riise. Yes Delap's is freakishly long but it's like dealing with a corner or free kick.
The sides at the bottom end of the Premier League and La Liga are much of muchness. Without a shadow of a doubt there are more superstars plying their trade in Spain and the very top clubs would most likely piss over the top clubs here.We come not to play.

I think it's different to dealing with a corner or freekick. Hence why so many sides, who deal with corners/freekicks every single game, struggled to deal with Delap's throw.Originally posted by Imy View PostThe long throw-in is not that unique, we use to employ it to an extent with Riise. It's the pace and trajectory that he gets into his throws, which is very difficult to replicate via a corner or freekick, that is quite unique.
I struggle to remember another player at top flight level, in recent years, with such a throw in.

I dont think Barca would struggle for long, but a hard ground, more lenient referee and the change in style may well cause them a few problems. Out of all those star names, the only one who'd have a hope in hell of beating Robert Huth to heading a Delap throw-in would be Puyol and that is kind of the whole point of this argument. Mourinho's Inter parked the bus vs Barcelona and beat them by getting lucky with what quality they had and that would be how at least half of the EPL would approach a game too.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostThe Stoke long throw thing is unique, I accept that. But IMO it's pretty laughable to suggest one of the greatest club sides of all time - featuring Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Puyol, Pedro etc - might lose any sleep over Rory Delap's throw ins.
If Barca played Stoke, I'd predict 7-0."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

He is an utter loon. Why didn't he ask how Stoke would cope playing away on a balmy evening in the Camp Nou in front of 100,000 Barca fans? Or in the Bernabeau? I would predict double figures for the current Barca or Real teams."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
