    Spurs want Beckham on loan

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will attempt to bring former England captain David Beckham to White Hart Lane on loan from LA Galaxy in January.
The Major League Soccer season restarts on 15 March, giving Redknapp hope of a temporary deal for the 35-year-old.

"We'll contact LA Galaxy to see if they will let him go and if David is up for a three-month deal, we will definitely be interested," said Redknapp.

Beckham had similar spells on loan at Italian club AC Milan in 2009 and 2010.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid wideman was born and raised in north London and trained at Tottenham before signing his first professional deal with the Red Devils.

However, Beckham has not so far been tempted by offers of a return to England.
The six-time Premier League champion turned down the chance to discuss a similar deal with Everton in November, stating that, as a Manchester United fan, such a move was "too close to home".

He also denied any interest in a move to West Ham in July and turned down the chance to be reunited with former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson at Leicester in December.

Beckham had claimed that a loan move to Europe was unlikely in this off-season as he would prefer to focus on his fitness, having only returned to action in September after six months out with an Achilles tendon injury.

But Redknapp believes that this chance may have come at the right time for both Beckham and Spurs.
"I'm sure he can still do a great job at the top level, otherwise I wouldn't bother," he added.

"He isn't going to come here and get big money - we aren't massive payers at this club.
"But he wants to come over here to the freezing cold and play football.
"Doesn't that tell you something about the boy that he lives in Los Angeles and might be a billionaire?"

Tottenham, who lie five points and four places off the top of the Premier League, would represent a chance for Beckham to prove he is still capable of performing at the top of club football.

An offer from Spurs would include the chance for Beckham to take on former club AC Milan over two legs in the last 16 of the Champions League on 15 February and 9 March.

Perhaps most enticingly, Beckham's chances of adding to his 115 international caps may be enhanced by a switch.

England manager Fabio Capello, who last selected Beckham for the 3-0 win over Belarus in October 2009, has urged him to return to Europe to prove his fitness.
Redknapp continued: "I'm not saying he's going to come in and take Aaron Lennon's place but he would be a good option.

"I am sure Aaron would love to work with him, on his crossing and everything, and on his final ball.
"He would be a good influence around the place."

The Spurs boss also brushed aside concerns about the intense media coverage that would accompany Beckham's return to the Premier League for the first time since departing for Real Madrid in 2003.
"I don't think it would be a distraction. Once you're in here, the gates are
    shut," he stated.

Thought he said he wouldn't play for any Prem team except the Mancs as he wouldn't be able to play against them. But who cares I would love it if he scored against those lucky *******s, absolutely love it!!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Harry - Becks wants to join
Spurs boss believes England veteran is keen to sign up

Harry Redknapp believes LA Galaxy's former England captain David Beckham wants to join Tottenham on loan.

The 35-year-old, who has twice joined AC Milan during MLS' close season, is expected to leave the California club once again.

Tottenham have been linked with a bid to bring Beckham back to England and Redknapp insists the deal is something he would like to pursue.

Redknapp has worked with veterans in the past, such as Teddy Sheringham with Portsmouth, and feels having experience in the camp is a no-brainer.

The Spurs boss knows Beckham is not short of money and feels his desire to continue playing when he could be resting says a lot about his character.

      Interest
"I think David would be interested. I think he'd fancy coming here," he told Sky Sports.

"It tells you everything about the man when he could be sat at home and he wants to come here and play football.

"He doesn't need to do it for the money. He wants to play and that's why he wants to come here. I think he'd like to come here. He'd be great to have around here.

"I had Teddy at Portsmouth and I used to say to the players there 'watch him'. There's no better way of coaching players than letting them watch good players.

"I spoke to the chairman about it. We've made contact with LA Galaxy. If it's doable I'd like to do it."

      .
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp hopes that former England captain David Beckham will have joined Spurs on a short-term loan deal by Sunday.
The London club have been speaking to Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Beckham, 35, with the Americans understood to be open to his move.
"It will probably get done," said Redknapp. "The clubs are talking and there's a good chance it will happen."
Beckham's first match could be against his former club Manchester United.
Redknapp hopes Beckham will come to watch the club's FA Cup third round match against Charlton on Sunday, before being available to face league leaders United at White Hart Lane the following Sunday.
"I think he could be here on Sunday, possibly, if what I'm being told on the grapevine is right," said Redknapp, who learnt of Beckham's interest via his former Tottenham footballer son Jamie.

Typical Redknapp. I wonder how much they'll pay him but fear not, 'Arry is an ace.

Harry Redknapp says his bid to bring David Beckham to Tottenham is a 'no-goer', though expects the midfielder to train with the club for a month.

It appeared likely LA Galaxy man Beckhamwould link up with Spurs on a two-month loan in the MLS close-season, with Redknappanticipating to wrap up the deal this weekend.

However, Redknapp has now revealed 'insurance issues' have prevented the move from going ahead after the 35-year-old picked up an Achilles injury while on loan at AC Milan last season.

            Problems

"I don't think it's going to happen," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"I spoke with the chairman and I think there are big problems with insurance issues and everything.

"He got injured last year at Milan, I think there was issues there with insurance."

Redknapp says the former England captain is likely to arrive at White Hart Lane this week to begin a month's training with the north London club.

He said: "What's going to happen, David is welcome to come and train here for a month or so, which I think he would like to do and we're pleased to have him come and train.

"It will be nice to have him here training with us for a month and I think he'll be great to have around the place and he'll be a good influence on everybody and I look forward to him coming.

"But I think as far as playing goes it looks like it's a no-goer."

Redknapp admits he is disappointed not to welcome the veteran midfielder to Spurs as a player, having previously seemed on the brink of securing the deal.

            Disappointed
He added: "For sure. It would have been nice.

"It would have been good to have him here available to play for us. But it couldn't happen, so it's not a problem, you just get on with it."

Tottenham take on Charlton at home in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, a match Beckham was rumoured to be attending.

But Redknapp says he does not expect the former England skipper to be there, adding: "I don't think so. I'm 99 per cent sure, as far as I know, he's not coming today."

my sister's kids go to the same school as Posh's sister's daughter (her eldest has been to her birthday parties etc) and at the weekend she told me that Beckham's 3 kids are lined up to start there this term as well. My sister also does a bit of teaching there, so will be teaching at least one of them. Insider info or what?

Can't understand why they want him anyway. Too much baggage for a short-term move and he won't improve them so whats the point???

Because they are quite an inexperienced team with few players with experience of winning something. Even I'd he didn't play I think he'd still be good for the dressing room.

she was supposed to be teaching Romeo in an after school class yesterday, but he did something else instead. 3 different teachers came in to warn her, as if one of them doesn't turn up ever they have to raise the alarm immediately.

She said that DB looked fit, but later wondered who the badly dressed stick was until she realised that it was Posh

                            more updates to follow.
