He was involved in bringing the players in

The other players were a bit pissed off

James Coppinger has hit out at Doncaster's controversial transfer policy following the club's relegation from the npower Championship.

Agent Willie McKay spearheaded the initiative which saw a host of high-profile names such as El-Hadji Diouf, Pascal Chimbonda and Habib Beye move to the Keepmoat Stadium on short-term deals with the carrot of placing themselves in the shop window for a bigger move.

Not a single one of McKay's recruits have earned the desired step up and, with Rovers' relegation confirmed by Saturday's dramatic 4-3 defeat to Portsmouth, Coppinger - one of the club's longest serving players having made more than 300 appearances since joining from Exeter in 2004 - has made his discontent known.

"I think it's disrespectful to the league if you think you can just bring in big names and that will win you games," the winger told skysports.com. "In this league, and in leagues below, you need more than just names on the team sheet.

"You need passion, commitment and togetherness and it just shows sometimes if you haven't got that, you don't do anything in football. I've been here eight years and this (season) is the hardest and most frustrating.

"The players that have been here a long time and had so much success in the Championship and kept us in the league for three years have found it difficult because it is a totally different regime and it hasn't worked out."

..QPR manager Neil Warnock has launched an astonishing attack on Blackburn Rovers winger El-Hadji Diouf following their FA Cup defeat.

The Championship side suffered a 1-0 loss to Rovers in the FA Cup on Saturday, but it was Diouf's reaction to Jamie Mackie's serious injury that annoyed Warnock.

The Senegalese forward issued a verbal volley at Mackie who was stretchered off and taken to hospital where it was confirmed he suffered a double leg break.

Warnock believes the loss of Mackie, who he expects to be without for the remainder of the season, is a massive blow to their promotion hopes.

However, it was Diouf's reaction that upset him and his players and he does not believe Rovers boss Steve Kean will allow him to play for the club for much longer.

        Double break
"He's broken both of his bones in his leg, his tib and his fib," Warnock said on Mackie's injury.

"It's disappointing for everyone. It pales into insignificance, the result really.

"I'm pulling my hair out as well because I wasn't going to play him. He pleaded with me to play him yesterday.

"That's how he is, he wants to play in everything. We'll miss him. It's a massive blow to us.

"I can't see him really playing again this season. The lads have said 'we've really got to try and get promotion for him now'.

        Disappointed
"He's a fantastic lad, so that's why I was disappointed when El-Hadji Diouf starts, the lads were furious at him.

"He'd broken his leg. There was no need for it. I think the Blackburn people were embarrassed.

"I can't buy people like that. I don't know why he wants to take on the world every week.

"There was no need for him to put the finger up and talk to Mackie like he did. He was calling him a disgrace and all sorts of things.

"I think for many years I think he's been the 'gutter' type of boy. I was going to call him a sewer rat, but that might insult the sewer rats. I think he's the lowest of the low.

"I can't see him being at Blackburn much longer because I can't see Steve Kean putting up with someone like that in the dressing room when he's creating a new image.

"I think he'll be the first to go. Good riddens. I hope he goes abroad. I won't miss watching him. Sign him? I wouldn't want to talk to him."
rumours he's signed him for leeds

            Confirmed then.

            Signed on a non-contractual basis.

I can't see this one ending well. And I hope it doesn't.

Diouf signing for Leeds. Why doesn't he just punch Jess Ennis in the face, its about the only thing he could do to make himself less likeable.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

She's from Sheffield, so it might actually help.

                      Laughably hypocritical.

His excuse, 'i met him at a do, quite by accident, got talking to him, told him what i thought he was doing wrong, and he spoke about football in general, i enjoyed the conversation so much i bought the compan' .... oops, i mean.... 'i enjoyed the conversation so much i decided to sign him'.

True fact, that's what Warnock said was his reason for going from thinking he was a sewer rat... to a great conversationalist. .

edit: Oh, and he spoke to Big Sam, and he said he was good with the kids.

It's in most of the papers. Doesn't require a response.

He can't get much lower, but I'm sure he'll give it a go.

yes i am sure Gerrard is sitting there gutted that Pele didn't name him in the 100 players of all time or carry england to the 2002 WC Q/finals. Lets face it i am sure gerrard would swap his CL winners medal along with all his other honours too be as good as diouf.

                              The ****ing idiot.

Diouf is the one player I'm actually slightly ashamed to have played for our club.
