I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but when Agger went off Kelly played centre back. Now for ages everyone has been saying this is where he'll end up playing, this was the first time I can recall him playing there. Unfortunately as the game wasn't televised we don't really know how he did

"Martin has been really unfortunate," Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com. "He was out for a year, he came back this season and at the beginning of the season we put him into some games.

"But as the season wore on and we were concentrating on one game a week, it was very difficult for him to get games.

"He's a quality player and he's a good guy as well - he knows the club inside out. He's been around for a long time and the game against Shamrock Rovers was his first game for a number of months.

"He played at centre-half, as opposed to right-back, where he has played a lot. He's a good guy and there will be games next year for the likes of him to come and play in if we continue to qualify in the competitions."

Feel for the lad, such potential but has regressed terribly... definitely down to his constant injury problems.

He's at an age that he must play games, at whatever level. A season in the championship would do him the world of good. Hopefully with a decent team with promotion hopes and fingers crossed he stays injury free. No chance with us though. Just wont get the run of games. Wish him well.

He'd have no resale value at present so a season out on loan to either put him in the shop window or see if he's worth another go with us is the logical conclusion.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

He's 24 now and to be honest we still don't really know what he can do, he's had a lot of injuries and as a result hasn't played a lot of football. I think some of the younger players have now moved ahead of him in the pecking order at RB (Flanagan and Wisdom) and he's hardly played a first team game at CB and I doubt we'll risk him there straight away, so it's hard to see where the games will come from.

24 and less than 100 games behind him.

He looked such a prospect when he first came into the team, but a lot of time has passed since he broke onto the scene and looked like he could be a top PL player and our RB for years to come.

You can't even consider moving him to CB these days, he's never played LB and there's dozens of better RB's kicking around.

I think he'll get a few friendlies under his belt this summer but I can't see Kelly being here this time next year. Shame.

i really rated kelly - but he looks shot.

he needs a good season on loan - championship, prove his fitness...go and get 30 to 40 games under his belt. Ideally he needs to go on a run of 10 games in a row.

sadly it looks like he can only go 2 or 3 and then breakdown again

if we get any sort of offer though take it.

We need a top left back and then he's behind
                    johnson
                    enrique
                    flannagan
                    wisdom

                    for the full back places

                    and currently behind
                    skrtel
                    agger
                    sakho
                    toure

for centre half places - plus we prob want another centre half and there is also Ilori to come back as well.

Yep, a prime candidate for a half-season loan, then reassess in January. Can't rely on him for a place in the squad at present sadly.

Guy definitely needs games and desperately needs to build his confidence back up. His list of long term injuries since he was a teenager is ridiculous, so unfortunate. Looked such a prospect & agree that a loan move would be a great option for him.

Half a season's loan to a premier league club where he can (injury permitting) get regular game time would be my suggestion.

Hard to believe he was in the England squad for Euro 2012.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
