Oh and take the 2 'little blips' Bentley and Bent out of the picture and we'd be in profit!

It's hardly a case of 'it costs £16.5m to get into the CL' though. That's the average figure, PER SEASON. So across those four seasons, it equates to £66m spent, net.

And given how little others have spent, it puts it into context. Of course it's dwarfed by City - who wouldnt be?

So why aren't you making a bigger point agains Villa and Sunderland who have spent all this money, however don't have much to show for it?

Saying that, I'm not really sure what the actual point is you're trying to make.

Maybe because Villa and Sunderland arent being painted by the media as having done 'amazingly well' with little mention of the massive funds that have been spent, perhaps?

Did i not allude to that already?

The point is that the media take great delight in peddling myths about Liverpool and Benitez 'spending £200m' or whatever during his six year tenure, whilst totally ignoring the huge spending it has taken to get Spurs into the CL, where their progress seems to be heralded as some kind of miracle, akin to something achieved with modest spending.

You may be unsure of the point i'm making, but then, you would be, wouldnt you?

Write a complaint to 'the media' then... I've never came out and blamed Rafa, or peddled myths about your spending. Why do you even care what the media say about you or what they don't say about us!? Everyone know's they're cunts and full of **** anyway.

It was always going to cost money to get into the the CL or break the top 4, you'd be crazy to think otherwise. Much like you're going to have to spend a similar amount to get back there, I'm sorry to say.

I think at least we've done it with some at least some nuance of business, instead of being brought out by some sugar daddy, and spent whatever money necessary to get there, much as I imagine the same way that Liverpool will strive to get back.

Craig what are you arguing about? It takes money to do well in football nowadays, we can't complain about it because we would be just as happy to spend that much every season. If its the media blasting us for spending that much then don't read the paper!

John Aldridge was on Irish Radio last night saying we should sign his neighbour Pienaar. in this window. On a Bosman in the summer. He'd be a great signing, give us what we lost with Yossi and we haven't seen yet with Cole. Can't harm to have players who can pass in the team/squad.

Everton accept offer for Steven Pienaar

Midfielder Steven Pienaar could be on the verge of leaving Everton after boss David Moyes said the club had accepted an offer from an unnamed team.
The 28-year-old South African international is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Spurs.

Moyes said: "We have had two offers and one of those has been accepted.
"We have allowed his representatives to speak to the other club, but whether it goes through or not I don't know yet."

Reports have also suggested that Pienaar could have already signed a pre-contract agreement with a major European club.
Pienaar joined Everton for £2m from Borussia Dortmund in 2007 and was voted as the club's player of the season last term.

But his form this season has not been at the same level and Moyes revealed that the player rejected a new contract some time ago.
Everton will be keen to recoup a fee for the player rather than watch him leave for free at the end of the season.
When asked if Pienaar had decided he wanted to move on, Moyes said: "I think the player probably decided that when he turned down his contract six months or a year ago, whenever it was.

"But he has done very well for us on the pitch, so we have no complaints."
If Pienaar makes a transfer window move he would be the second player to leave the club in January.
On Thursday striker Ayegbeni Yakubu joined Leicester on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
