15 starts and 8 sub appearances isn't too bad for a debut season. The team are playing well and winning matches so I'm sure he's happy enough.

Although, if Meireles and Lucas play together a lot and form the kind of versatile partnership i think they can, where both are good defensively AND in terms of going forward, you could argue that the sum of their parts makes us stronger in that area than when we had Mascherano, who whilst being a world class DM, offered nothing going forward and certainly didnt have the vision or game intelligence of Meireles.

I made that exact point when we sold him and I must say I have been impressed when Lucas and Meireles have played in the centre together, so will be interesting to see how things turn out now that Nando is finding form and Gerrard will be returning.
