    Babel Watch

    He's gone but not forgotten!

A lot of people didn't rate Ryan Babel but on the other hand a lot of people could see the undoubted potential the lad has and wished he could have had a sustained run in the side in his favourite position to show what he could do.

It was said that under a manager like Harry Redknapp who puts an arm round the players and tries to bring the best out of them in a "softly softly" approach Babel would have been a hit. Unfortunately, none of our managers he played under are like that bar Kenny but he obviously couldn't see a bright future for Ryan here.

But, i and others still maintain that Babel will go on to show what he can do once he gets regular games, match fitness, a chance in his preferred position and some much needed confidence. It will be interesting to see if he can indeed go on to be the star that he was expected to be with Hoffenheim.

This thread will be to update on the future progress of "the one that got away!".

People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Who are these deluded "others", Rev?
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

He will never become a prolific striker - his best work is outside of the box. He doesn't have the instincts of a striker. He should have concentrated on becoming a winger as he has a good cross on him and decent skill.

At best, he will get 10 goals a season in the league. But I agree he would have succeeded under a different manager.

I don't think he's very good but I warmed to him and wish him all the best. I hope he does well.

I'll never forgive him for blocking me from Twitter.I used to believe that he has it in him to become a great player. Now I don't care, he blocked me the cunt. I expect a German paper to photograph him back in dam, smoking green.

I don't, you can't teach someone to think.

? Ok i know what you mean, but it's the quality of thinking that can't be taught surely, certainly past a certain level surely, a person being limited by their intelligence..iq ?

I'm not even sure that what Babel needs is to be taught to think, i sometimes wonder if a bit of repetition might have been better, drumming it into him...down the line...look up...put a cross in..down the line..look up..put a cross in, etc. till it was automatic to him..hopefully his skill would then enable him to carry it out.

In Ryan's case I just think the brain doesn't work.

That's why my amendment to my above post said what it did, maybe we should have tried a different method with him.

I really don't think that he can become anything but an average player because of his lack of guile and when he loses his pace he will be useless.

It's what i think too, just can't see it happeneing at the very top for him, he'll find his level, as they always do.
