A lot of similarities with Shevchenko imo, went from his hometowm club to a club where he had a some(in Sheva's case a lot of) success and was adored by the fans, to chelsea where he wasn't wanted that much, and certanly didn't fit in with the formation. he's kind of like a trophy signing. At the start of January i'd say there was no way he'd go to real madrid, but now i think he'll end up there sooner or later.
