Do you genuinly believe it is a hardship being a top level footballer? I'd happily eat well, not drink and behave to earn millions every year and retire at 32.

i dont think it is a hardship but you always want what you cant have. so things like walking down the street and not having people taking pictures etc might be very attractive.
obviously the main difference is if he really wanted to do all those things he could retire and do them.
however they do make certain sacrifices to live how they live.

Don't sell yourself short Nicklas..................confidence must be taking a battering seeing as how he's gone from one of the best strikers in Europe to someone who needs to get away to get a game (kudos for wanting to get away to play in fairness).
Wonder if there was anything at all in dodgy rumours about us being interested last year.......I would ****ing cry if he somehow ended up here - a real Hodgson style marquee signing.
No doubt Kenny has infinitely more sense.
BENDTNER MAY QUIT ARSENAL
Posted 08/02/11 22:19
Striker Nicklas Bendtner admits he may have to consider a future away from Arsenal this summer after being frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities.
Bendtner is only just returning to full fitness and sharpness after injury problems this season.
But the Danish international, who will face England in Copenhagen on Wednesday evening, clearly feels he has to play regular football to achieve his goals in the game.
Bendtner said: "I have a lot of feelings for Arsenal and it means something great to me.
"I would be sad to leave it, but you have to think about yourself and, with the career goals I have, I cannot be sitting on the bench.
"That's the way it is. I will do my best for Arsenal throughout the season.
"Hopefully, I will be there next season as well, but we have to wait and see.
"But, if my situation at Arsenal doesn't change, I will have to look at it because I want to play football.
"There is no doubt about that. If I cannot play at Arsenal, then I do not want to sit on the bench - but every player thinks like that.
"I am at a stage of my career now where I think I should play every game and I should develop and score goals.""I will make the boys feel your support"

Me tooThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Another one well worth his wages.....and this fella can use the bible to back up his claims.
Far too much money going into the PFA if this is the case..........exponentially grown with the resources of the game, hardly justification for the increase in wages.
PFA boss Gordon Taylor's £1m wage 'not embarrassing'

* Football 'needs to rethink pay'
The chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), says he is not embarrassed at being paid seven times more than the prime minister.
Former Birmingham City winger, Gordon Taylor, is reportedly paid almost £1m a year in his role.
In an interview for BBC WM Hardtalk, Mr Taylor said it was not up to him to justify his salary.
Asked if he was embarrassed about his reported salary of £984,000, he said every worker is "worth their hire".
Mr Taylor has been involved with the PFA - the trade union for English footballers - since the 1980s.
'Short career'
In the interview, Mr Taylor said: "I don't think it's up to me to justify.
"It's up to (the) management committee because I don't write my own salary out.
"There's a finance committee and they work out our income and expenditure and I suppose they might just have thought what are the assets of the PFA now compared to when he came in and what does he negotiate for us each year.
"I wouldn't want any of my members and neither myself to be embarrassed about it... Every labour is worth his hire, that's going to back to the Bible," he added.
"The whole object of the players' association is to try and make sure that any individual is able to capitalise on his ability, particularly in football which is a very short career." PFA boss Gordon Taylor's £1m wage 'not embarrassing'

i used to have to go to a place in manchester that was in the same square as the pfa offices. Infact the pfa had a few of the buildings (they look like old town houses but are probably built in the 90s i would say). i got told the building were not cheap and the pfa had one just to store records. I think they have three or four of the buildings.
they must be absolutely swimming in cash i would have thought.

An example of an organisation whose decent work (at least in the past maybe) has been forgotten in a bloated, self-indulgent old boys network."I will make the boys feel your support"
