The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Tbch I like Poulsen. You don't be the captain of Denmark without being a decent player.

I think he gets to much stick simply cause he was a Hodgson signing.

Nothing to do with who signed him. He was ****e at 1st but has improved since kenny took over.

As for the bit about only decent players can captain denmark, that doesn't mean they have to be good in the Prem though does it ! There's plenty of players that just aren't suited to the pace of the Prem. He's looked like one of those early on but he's improved. (slightly )
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

If you look back you'll see he was getting a good deal of stick even before he put pen to paper from anyone who'd seen him turn out for Sevilla or Juve.

One of the worse signings ever.

If we got him for free that wouldn't be that much upsetting but to shell out initially £4.5m and to potentially pay additional £1.5m based on appearances was absolute madness. Couple that with Aqua man loan it was a total disaster.

I think his positioning under Kenny is better but imo he cannot really improve. His legs are gone,he cannot pass and his tackling is horrendous but Kenny is giving him some playing time as we don't have anybody else in the similar position.

He's one of players that we have to let go in the summer. He's simply not good enough.

He hasn't done anything of note, no huge loss.

Its a bit of a loss, I would say.

He has looked pretty decent. Bit rough around the edges, but has some good touches and vision.

The problem we have is the Stevie G factor. I remember when he first came in, and he looked equally rough around the edges. The difference between him and Jonjo is the athleticism. Quite simply, Gerrard was awesome at everything, whereas Shelvey will probably develop into a player like Alonso, maybe.

But we aint never going to get another player like Stevie. Like Fowler, he is a one off. A one off who was made of pure awesomeness. Who, in his prime, used to singlehandedly win games. I swear I saw him once try to get on the end of one of his own corners, back in the Houllier days.

Going forward, we will probably see many classy midfielders, and probably a few good all rounders, but I doubt any will be that good at so many things as Gerrard. He is someone who will need replacing in a couple of years, and we need to start planning for it.

Back to Shelvey, I like what I have seen, and getting him games now will help develop him into the player I hope he can become
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Edit the title, mention the injury is old.

I was really gutted for a few seconds.

For a second there I thought the decision to let go of Raul had come back to bite us already.

Probably warrants its own thread, not really related to last seasons injury!

                          Sorry for the scare.

Didn't want to start the new thread.

Maybe mods can revise the thread title.

****ing hell, England are really scraping the barrel if they're making a fuss about goals scored during training
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

Although they haven't yet reached Everton's level, presumably we can expect Everton's greatest ever training goals on DVD any day now
