    Because Shelvey can score.

I think they both would have benefited more if they had been sent on a loan rather than U21 team but the problem is that our squad for EL competition is paper-thin so we are forced to keep them around.

If we don't move on after Thursday there is still chance one of them may end up in Championship just like Robinson.

Because at this point in time he adds more to the team than Suso.

I don't see it. He had a good few games, but so did Sterling, Suso, Allen etc. Personally, I've always thought of Shelvey as a Charlie Adam mark two. He has a few good games, but then forgets how to shoot. Shelvey's major issue is tackling though.

Shelvey for me needs to go on loan, he's been really quite poor for a while when playing for us - looks like he could be a real talent but not at Anfield in the first team squad for me at the moment

Don't know what's happened to him, showed apt of promise at one point.

Was probably the worst performance I've seen from him last night.

I didn't think he was that bad. Made a couple of decent runs and improved ou ability to get the ball back into attack quickly at first as he was better competing in the air than Allen. Not a great performance but I don't think he did anything really wrong.

I agree - from the post match thread it seems people have decided he is the scapegoat this time though.

Personally think he has really regressed since his red card against Utd. He has become overly reckless in tackling too

It does seem like he's become a little wilder in the tackle. His yellow last night was just another stupid mistimed tackle.

He's the type of player than needs to get a run of games under his belt to begin performing at a higher level IMO.

I'd like to see him loaned out to a premiership team next season - if he starts the majority of games while out on loan I think we'll see him blossom.

it would really do him the world of good and in the longer term LFC as well

Got to agree with that. He made no attempt to get the ball. Just a wild lunge. He definitely is the kind of player who needs to be playing regularly. I think there is a good player in there but he's struggling for form at the moment, and confidence.

I think Stevie G was so right last night when asked about the young talent coming through at the club. It applies to Shelvey who, like maybe a couple of others, thought he had cracked it here earlier in the season. Sorry Jonjo, our standards are immensely higher and you either get to work and improve both your game and attitude, or you are out.

He was playing really well up until that red card and it's gone downhill since. Although I didn't think he was terrible last night.

Came back a better player after his spell at Blackpool.

I think the experience of Henderson shows that sometimes working with the squad can have a positive effect too. I think rash tackles have always been a part of his game but they seem to come out more when he feels he needs to prove himself - that is something he might better learn with us than elsewhere.
