    Cisse racism

Djibril Cisse says he will quit Panathinaikos at the end of the season after growing tired of the racist abuse he has suffered in Greece.

Cisse has scored 41 times in 49 league games for the Athens club, but says he has been driven out by the repeated behaviour of opposing fans.

The situation reached a nadir during the derby game between Pana and Olympiakos on Saturday, as Cisse and three team-mates were attacked by Olympiakos supporters who entered the field of play following the 2-1 defeat for his side.

"This summer I'm leaving, that's for sure," Cisse told L'Equipe. "It's impossible for me here. Even though the Pana fans are fantastic, even though the club is great, I don't want to play in this league anymore."

He said of Saturday's events: "I was their target. Some of them hit me and I retaliated to defend myself. It's a disgrace. I'm not going to let things lie. This week, I will make a complaint to UEFA and I can tell you I won't drop it."

Cisse also alleges that racism is a growing problem in Greek football and that the level of abuse has become unbearable.

"This season the atmosphere in the stands has got worse," Cisse said. "Twice already, I have been the victim of monkey chants, of racist insults. It was the same thing again on Saturday night.

"They managed to get inflatable bananas (into the stadium) that they were shaking around every time I touched the ball."
Can't believe this sort of thing still goes on

    Great goal record there btw.

Problems like this need sorting out by either the Greek FA or if they are unable or unwilling to do so UEFA or FIFA, although they are useless too. It's something that is unacceptable in this day an age. It is something that the footballing authorities should take very seriously but they don't seem to, for all the 'give racisim the red card' etc punishments are very lenient
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Should be given a points deduction. Fine's are just pointless.

I agree with the points deductions and bans for racial abuse, no excuse for it.

Always liked him, but by God he was frustrating at times.
