    Chelsea sign Lucas Piazon

Sao Paulo starlet Lucas Piazon has agreed to join English champions Chelsea in a deal worth €7.5 million.

The Paulista club will receive €6 million for their 80% stake in Piazon, who should not be confused with the older Tricolor prodigy called Lucas (who recently signed a new contract with the club). The remaining €1.5m of the transfer fee will be split between Piazon, his family and agent Giuliano Bertolucci.

Earlier this year, the striker was close to joining Juventus, even attending their Copa Italia game against Roma.

However, after intense negotiations, the Italians failed to agree personal terms with the 17-year-old.

Piazon is currently representing Brazil at the South American Under-17 Championships in Ecuador and scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over Venezuela.

Tomorrow evening in Ibarra, Piazon is set to resume his exciting partnership with Cruzeiro's Pedro Paulo against Chile.

Described as the new Kaka that Piazon fella. Chelsea do need a few new players in the summer.

I see the Mancs are linked with Jack Rodwell again, that one just won't go away.
Wouldn't be too bothered if they got him, he's nothing special from what i've seen.

Chelsea need players that can do a job now.

Instead they are signing players that did a job for others in the past, or may do a job in 5 years time.
      Oh I don't know.

I'm not sure that is fair. That Luiz guy looks pretty good right now and Torres achievements are hardly that far in the past and his form during the short period Kenny was in charge of him would indicate that if he can be fitted into a system that suits him he still has a lot to offer.

Is it because he is under 18 that chelsea are able to sign him outside the window?

You can agree a transfer for a player whenever you want, but then the player can't join the club before the transfer window starts (or in this case even before the player turns 18, as I believe that players from Brazil aren't allowed to move abroad before they turn that age).

The same was with Lucas (except that he was already older than 18), I remember the transfer being announced months before he actually joined us in the summer.

By all accounts he looks like a top class talent.

Why wouldn't the club wait until later to try and make them pay more based on him showing his ability for a longer period? Or are they looking to hedge their bets incase he is **** in the next few months...

Maybe he's got a minimum fee release clause, I don't know. What I said might even be completely wrong, I don't understand anything anymore.

I think FIFA do, the FA don't. Chelsea are buying out all the part owners so I don't think there's a problem.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
