He jumped down my throat saying that I'd been brain washed by this media perseption and hype of certain players and I was judging the squad on the absence of such players. He claimed that players such as Cole, Terry, Dawson, Barry, Lampard, Milner, Lennon, Parker, Defoe and Rooney are all very much top class players and that this England team has nothing to fear from anyone in world football
I think the truth is somewhere between the two extremes. We have a lot of talent in the team but we have some huge glaring problems - we lack someone to control the game tactically in the middle and a striker suited to partnering Rooney at the minute. We also have a lot of a certain sort of talent - based on physicality as much if not more than technique.

A fully fit fit England squad has an excellent first XI in terms of individuals but it never looks balanced. We have lots to fear from a lot of teams because they do. On the other hand our last qualifying campaign showed that we can be a highly effective unit.

It would probably also help if our players didn't think that they were amongst the best in the world.

I'm sure that's the case, I just feel that a few years ago the England team was made up of alot of players who you would consider the best in the Premiership, now I think the quality of the Premiership has dropped and I feel that the English players aren't making up the same fraction of the top Premiership players. I think this is where my perception comes from. There are some good players there but I don't feel there are any great players there. Obviously you don't have to have great players to make a great or successful team (think Greece 2004), but IMO you either need to have an effective team that is greater than the sum of it's parts or have some great players and a system that gets the most out of them, and I don't think England has either.

The last WC qualifying campaign the England team was effective but I feel that alot of those players are no longer around and that has now been lost as so many of the other players are inexperienced at international level.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

England need Roy Hodgson to downplay ambition. The frenzy you lot get yourselves in before and during tournaments is ****ing laughable, especially when it inevitably goes to **** and the hand wringing starts. Roy would be great for England

The apostrophe is to indicate a possessive rather than a plural, no apostrophe suggest they there is no just one Shaggy

The apostrophe is when you are talking about something somebody owns.

                            For example...

                            Shaggy's cat is black.

Never, repeat never, to be used to denote a plural.
