Actually I think that real Ronaldo at his best was better. As indeed was Maradona in Mexico 1986.

Real Ronaldo was the best Modern day striker the world has ever seen. No one around at the moment who could even touch him (No fat jokes )

I was 6 when Maradona played in that tournament so I can't really comment on that.

While I think Ronaldo was an incredible talent, I don't think he was better than Zidane. Longevity is one of the most important factors when it comes to a player's legacy.

As soon as Ronaldo lost his pace he was practically finished. At his best he was pretty much unstoppable. But Zidane was unplayable for most of his career because of his footballing brain. Not his pace, or any other physical attribute. In my opinion, that's makes him more impressive than Ronaldo. Certainly a better 'footballer.'

I would have loved to have seen Messi, Ronaldo (in his prime) and Zidane all playing together in the same team.

I remember when the british media were trying to bill an England v Brazil games as a showdown between Shearer and Ronaldo to see who was the best striker in the world. ****ing laughable.

I agree with you. In his prime, best striker I've seen.

He had bad injuries before the 2002 World Cup and lost his explosive pace, but he still went on to lift the trophy and numerous other trophies after he signed for Madrid. Real Madrid Ronaldo was a shadow of Barca Ronaldo, but he was still a world class player.

                      Best Striker = Ronaldo
Best Footballer = Zidane (Unbelievable skills in his prime, looks big and bulky but a drop of the shoulder or just a change in weight from one foot to the other could bamboozle.

Practically finished was the wrong thing to say. But as you said, he lost a level.

Zidane > Ronaldo in my opinion

He could still do a good enough job to play for real or any other top team! Retired so young in true legendary style!
