Gibson is horrendous. Astonishing he's at a club like that.

Bloody hell, Referees! He's made two great strong decisions, then he go's and bottles it, no neutral would have blamed him for sending Vidic off either! it would have been a good and correct decision, but now...if the scum come back from this...it'll go down as another very important and decisive, maybe even deciding! piece of ****e refereeing!

Why'd he give the free-kick then?Originally posted by Mattshark View PostNo, Smith is right, it is a poor, but since Ba couldn't have gotten the ball, he isn't preventing a goal scoring opportunity.
If the free-kick wasn't given then obv no card can be given, but since he gave the free-kick the red card should have been shown.

It doesn't work like that. A foul is a fk no matter if the player could get the ball or not.

Incredibly average footballer.......in the sense that you could find better players up the park at the weekend playing part-time.

No it isn't, it is not last man, it is about preventing a goal scoring opportunity.Originally posted by Rudo View PostA foul which Vidic committed being the last United outfield player defending his goal = straight red card. Simples.

But in fouling him, and being the last man too..is'nt he then denying the player a goal scoring opportunity, even if he's on the half way line he could still theoretically have a shot at goal..if he had'nt been fouled, for me, last man fouling an oppsing player going towards goal is stopping a goal scoring opportunity.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostNo it isn't, it is not last man, it is about preventing a goal scoring opportunity.

It has to be said the talk a few months ago of us taking two or three years to "get back into contention" regarding the PL title is now looking a little pessimistic. IMO we're nowhere near as far off the other big sides as some, including myself had first thought. I've seen nothing from Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Spurs lately that suggests anything other than a decent go at the title next year and a CL spot for LFC.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
