    Djibril Cisse: What a knockout

Fan sues Sunderland after knockout blow

A football fan is suing Sunderland after being knocked out by a stray shot while watching a training session, it has emerged.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn revealed the legal action had started while appearing on a BBC radio phone-in.

The club boss was asked on BBC Newcastle’s Total Sport programme by a caller whether the club would allow fans to watch the players train, which had been allowed previously.

“We had a supporter who got a bad injury," Quinn replied. “I think it was one of Djibril Cisse’s misses where he had a shot from 20 yards. I’m making fun of it now, but it knocked a supporter out. It was quite serious.

“That supporter is in the process of suing us right now.”

Sunderland declined to comment when asked for more details.

Cisse played for Sunderland 38 times in the 2008-9 season, scoring 11 times, while on loan from Marseille.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Say what you want about him but 42 goals in 51 games for Panathinaikos isn't all that shabby

                What a **** of a supporter.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Bloody hell, if you could get sued for getting hit by miss kicks then Emile Heskey should be filing for bankruptcy.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."
