Its not as emphatic as you are stating as it also refers to N'Gog previously being part of the deal


JORDAN HENDERSON will complete a £16m cash switch from Sunderland to Liverpool today.

But David Ngog will not be moving the other way as part of the deal.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce wanted the French striker, rated by the Reds at £8m, to take the deal past his £20m valuation of the young midfielder.

But the deal will now be cash only, with Ngog staying at Anfield for the time being.

Valencia: No offers for Mata

Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez has claimed the club have yet to receive any offers for reported Arsenal target Juan Mata.

Speculation has been gathering pace that Arsenal have upped the ante in their alleged pursuit of Mata, with rumours suggesting an offer has been tabled for his services.

But Vazquez has cooled talk of an approach from any club, insisting Valencia remain hopeful that the 23-year-old Spain international will stay at the Mestalla.

Vazquez told Superdeporte: "I hope that he [Mata] will stay with Valencia and I think he'll do just that. We have not received any offers for him so far.

"However, we have a back-up plan in case he leaves. That's not just the case for Juan though. We have a plan like that for every player. We have to be prepared if something happens.

"Juan is very calm and doesn't get carried away. Of course, the rumours don't go unnoticed, but there is absolutely no doubt about his commitment to Valencia."

Mata have played several seasons as an out and out winger at Valencia. It is only last season that he started to move inside a lot more and play more centrally.

Despite the fact that Mata is a VERY good player (and probably better than Downing technically)) I dont think you'd class him as a specialist winger

No he's not a traditional winger but we need creativity on the pitch and he has tons of that.
