Thanjk you.

So it looks like we wouldn't have got him no matter what. I think people are being unreasonably critical of our transfer dealings.
Reasonable or not is debatable, but i dont think we even made a bid. Trying and failing because he wont come is one thing, but preferring Downing....grrr
Balague's story chopping and changing. Typical bull**** from him. He's always claiming things are "done deals" or that this manager is doing this or that, but the accuracy of his calls are awful.
What happened to the 17m euros from last week? Or him implying that Llorente is in denial.

"Arsenal will offer 18m euros which will force Valencia to either accept the offer or raise his wages by 700k euros."
2 days later
"Everything seems to be agreed, Arsenal have agreed to pay 22m euros... It's now upto the player to decide if he wants to move to Arsenal."
He also mentions the clause to be between 16-22m where it has now been reported it was 25m. So on so fourth. I'm paraphrasing slightly but that's the gist. The thing is it's nowhere near the first time. Luis Garcia (Espanyol one) was apparently joining Valencia, then Spurs and other teams and he's still and Espanyol player today; pretty sure he said that Torres to United was a done deal, he confirmed Phil Thompson's Enrique call etc. Even if Mata does sign for Arsenal or something the fact his story has been so inconsistent leads me to believe he doesn't have very reliable sources and leads people to believe he knows a lot more than he does. I don't mind him, but can't understand how people put weight behind his comments.
So it looks like we wouldn't have got him no matter what. I think people are being unreasonably critical of our transfer dealings.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
@BumperGraham#Mata. Spurs bid, player not keen. Arsenal did convince him but between AFC and VCF was verbal. Mata pretty down in dumps. May well stay but not finished yet. VCF showed that are open to certain amount, Mata's stance on all this will be vital. Opportunity missed though
@SkyGraemeBailey
Juan Mata's father says Valencia rejected Arsenal's offer for the Spain international. Staying with Valencia now looks most likely option

IF thats true? then thats great news as he can come to us next year when we've qualified for the CL
So maybe the ITK who claimed that Mata would be unveiled as a Liverpool player at the LFC - Valencia game had it right
