Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand was taken on a guided tour of the White House – and kicked off a major security alert.

The excited defender posted photographs of himself inside the famous building and even joked that the security was a bit lax.

But CIA spooks are believed to have seen the snaps and immediately ordered them to be wiped from the internet.


Tweeting furiously, the father-of-three told his army of more than one million followers how much he was enjoying the guided tour.

He then posted some pictures of himself posing in the state dining room and cheekily tweeted: “The security needs beefing up here at the White House....!!”

Spooks in suits are believed to have been monitoring his Twitter page – and seconds later the pics had been replaced by a cartoon man pointing at a blackboard.

A rattled Rio then tweeted: “Whoa....some1 has got into my phone + taken down my pics off twitter....this is deep...is Jack Bauer in Washington?!”


He wrote: “What an experience having the opportunity to go into the White House, thank you... now where are my pics????”

Other tweets soon followed: “My pic of the security was #removed quick, rapido, sharpish, fast.... they don’t play here in DC... I feel like I’m on 24 right now #baffled.”
