Chelsea target Neymar will stay at Santos ‘until he is 80’, according to the Brazilian club’s president Luis Álvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro.

Real Madrid have reportedly had a £39.2m [€45m] bid turned down for the striker, who has become one of the most coveted players in world football.

And both Chelsea and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old, who is already a mainstay in the Brazilian national team.

But Ribeiro says Neymar is going nowhere and has pledged to erect a plaque to commemorate his stunning goal against Flamengo last week.

“Neymar will continue at Santos until he is 80,” he said. “We have no interest in selling Neymar and we have formally communicated that to Real Madrid.

“It’s the same proposal we had last month, to which we had already decided the answer was no, and now we have formalised it.

“Instead, we will put up a plaque to celebrate his goal against Flamengo and have a party.”
