Considering how stingy Arsenal are with spending money, i bet the £4m loss will piss them right off
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
I'm almost sure this was known about in the summer. He was one of the 4013 footballers linked with us & I remember something about military service. So Arsenal would have known all about this.

Strange to think that he ever played for us now. Can't say I rated him that highly either.
Didn't his old man win a ****load of poke when Kirkland won his England cap? I'm sure that I read somewhere about his Dad placing a bet that he'd go on to play for England one day with odds of 10,000-1 or something.

From his wikipedia page:
International career
He won eight caps with the England under-21 team and was regularly selected for the senior squad from 2003 onwards,[5] but did not make an appearance until he came on as a substitute for the second half of a friendly against Greece in August 2006. When Kirkland was eleven years old, his father and some family friends had placed bets of £100 each at 100/1 odds that he would play for England before the age of thirty.[22] Kirkland's appearance netted the syndicate £10,000 each.
It's not looking likely that he'll get a second cap though...

Seems harsh, it was petulant and technically 'violent' but it was just a frustrated flick. Don't think it would be the same for a lower profile player.
Would be the same for some knee high two footed lunge, the only offence that would have been longer would have been maybe a punch or assaulting an official.

I don't think it is harsh, it wasn't a mis-timed tackle, it was a cynical and dirty attempt to take the player out, personally I think that a 3 game ban is justified whoever does something like that.
